Swollen Lymph Node in Groin

Swollen Lymph Node in Groin

Hello,

Last night I had pretty severe allergies (presented with swollen, itchy eyes, congestion). I took several antihistamines which helped. I have a history of bad allergies and received shots for them.

This morning I woke up with a tender and swollen inguinal lymph node on my right side.

I try to always practice safe sex, but I had a condom break six or seven months ago.

Because of the swelling's location my obvious concern is an STD. I have no other symptoms that would suggest this (lesions, sores, etc.) but the swelling is in a place of concern.

I'm mostly concerned about herpes, given its nature and because I understand you can have it without symptoms. My main question is, given that the swelling has presented without any other telltale symptoms such as lesions, is it correct to assume that herpes is an unlikely culprit? Also, is it likely that bad allergies can contribute to such an episode?

As far as history, with the exception of the broken-condom episode in March, I've been sexually monogamous since May.

Hi concerned,  I'm late to reply, maybe you've seen the dr by now? I noticed nobody answered so I wanted to reply.  The node could be a lot of different things, allergies definitely contribute to swollen lymph nodes, usually in the armpit (axilla) or the neck, or clavicle, but if you laid at night sleeping on the side of the swelling it could settle in the inguinal.  It could be some sort of infection (urinary tract, bladder) so many things, I would advise you that if in 1 week it's not gone which is about now, see the dr so they can figure out what the problem is.
