Hospital Stay Monday Night

Hey Girls,
I'd been having sharp stomach pains all over my stomach on and off for 4 days, the pains would normally last for 15 min. and go away, but I always got the pains after I'd eat and then periodically throughout the day too. Well, on Monday I got the infant I babysit down for a nap and my son down for a nap after we all ate and I was having severe pains, they started at about 12, well at 4 when my babysitting charge gets picked up, I was still having them. I couldn't stand up straight, it was very painful to move, sneeze, etc. So I called my baby doctor and he said come in right away. So he thought it was my appendix, so they admitted me to the hospital overnight since I'm pregnant and that would be bad to me and fatal to my baby if it would erupt. Bloodtest came back clean, so next was my gall bladder, they did an u/s and I have an odd shaped gall bladder, but didn't see any stones or crystals in it. So they completely (except for IV) starved the whole time I was in the hospital until I was ready to leave at 10:30 the next morning and all I got was a popsicle and jello. I had to stay on liquids yesterday and I started my bland, no fat diet today. Tommorrow I can start introducing normal food to my body so I can see what triggers the pains. If it's fats, then we'll be looking at surgery after the baby. They kept checking the baby's heartbeat while I was in the hospital and while I was in u/s my Dr. asked for a placenta check, so I got to see my baby again! I knew the baby was fine, because he/she didn't stop moving the whole time I was there, but it was good to hear the heartbeat too!

Oh no! What kind of surgery would you need if it is the fats? Good to hear the baby is ok!

Oh Gosh, sorry you had to go through this. I do beleive that gall bladder problems often present themselves during pregnnacy. My cousin's girlfriend was dealthy ill during her pregnnacy, admitted to hospital several times, even stripped her throat from throwing up so much. It was until after the baby was born that they diagnosed it as a gall bladder problem and she had it removed...it still urks me though, cause her mom had the same problem, but yet they didn't put two and two together.

Thank you girls for being concerned!
Once I start eating fats and have the pains then we'll be more certain that it is the gall bladder and then after the baby I'll have more tests...I can't remember what it's called, but it involves x-ray so they'll wait until baby's birth. and then they'll remove it. And now they don't "cut" you to get it out. I'll just have I think it's 3 little holes like pencil eraser size in my stomach. I'm the oldest of five girls and two of my sister have had their gall bladders removed.  One had an abnormal one and the other's just didn't work. We'll probably know more tomorrow I'd say because I'm going to start introducing normal foods and keeping track of what hurts me. I'll keep you posted. Thanks again girls!
P.S. I had a guy friend tell me "Oh, maybe they can just remove it when your in the hospital when you have your baby and then you can do all your recooperating at the same time." I said "I don't think so! Do you know how long it took me to recooperate from having Camden?!" But that's a guy's thinking for you!

It's actually 4 holes, one longer one right under where your bra sits, and then two little ones on your side and one more little one right in your belly button. I just had mine out in February of this year. They did a test on me where they inject you with this radioactive material, and then you sit under an x-ray machine for at least an hour or two, and they watch how your gall bladder functions. It was actually pretty cool, because you can watch the material travel through all of your organs. Then once that is all the way through you, they inject you with some other stuff. The nurse described it 2 Big Mac's in a syringe, to see if it is the fats that are the problem. That part was not so cool!!

But I can definitely understand why they have to wait until after the baby comes!! Good luck to you, I hope it doesn't get too bad!
