Morning Sickness

by AmyC311, Aug 04, 2008 07:01PM
Is anyone else super sick???? I feel like I am the only one of my friends to be this sick. Every morning I wake up and eat a couple crackers and drink water and gatorade for the sole purpose of having something to throw up. I have to be sick at LEAST 2 sessions before I can safely move around the house. And then I will feel nauseated all day long and sometimes even have a round of evening sickness.

Anyone else having similar sickness?? I have already lost 8 pounds. My doctor says if I go on for 24 hours like that without keeping anything down I have to get an IV but fortunately I am able to keep some food in my around mid-day.

Sorry you're so sick honey, that is awful! I think I am a little bit behind you, I am 7w2d and I am nauseous all day long, but I have only actually thrown up once. It seems to be getting worse by the day though...

I hope you start feeling better, you don't have too much longer till your at the end of your first trimester, hopefully it will get much better then!

Hi Amy, sorry to hear your not feeling so good. As Jennmay said hopefully you will feel much better after the 12th week. im not feeling it as much as you thank god but i do feel queezy...like motion sickness....all day but it is only mild. 2 mornings now i have got out of bed and run straight for the toilet but as i havent even eaten yet im spared from the whole event of being sick. Hows your appetite? im a greedy person when it comes to good food but the thought of food makes me feel worse. i made some fresh fruit salad the other day and that was lovely....only thing i have really enjoyed this past week. You should give it a try and see how you go....tasty and thirst quenching, the oranges and water melon are the best. take care

I eat as much as I possibly can. I agree that watermelon is awesome! :) But after I was sick eating it I tend not to eat that again...so my food list is running low. I have been craving lettuce wraps and I have been having success with that. At least I know there is a good amount of protein in them and other good stuff. I can not even go near milk which is odd because I loved it before I was pregnant. OH well...I guess I am just the unlucky sick girl of the group! It will all be worth it in the end and when my child gets older I can use it to guilt them..jk. :)

Everyone says I am going to have a girl since I have been sick. Anyone hear little old wives' tales like that?

by jennymay, Aug 05, 2008 01:32PM
I actually have heard that wives' tale, but I have had it been disproven! My bff was twice as sick with her boys than her girls.. my mom has 2 boys and 2 girls, and was sick all 9 months with all of us, my sister has 2 boys and was sick all 9 moths with both and my mother in law was way sick with her girl, but not with her 2 boys. So I think it just depends on the person with how bad the m/s will be, not the sex of the baby ;).

But you can always hope ;)

hello ladies.  I am now 8weeks 2days and the only time I did not feel sick is saturday.  I was able to go see a festival without getting nauseous and gagging.  My vomitting stopped because I try to lay down when I feel like throwing up.. but when I am in the office I just pop in  a candy,  it helps me keep my food down.  I know sugar is not good but I only have them once I feel like I am going to be sick.  Sleepy all day is one of them too.  I am really tired no matter how much I sleep in the night. and mild headaches/  I went to an online chinese calendar to see what I am having just for fun.. LOL.. it says I am having a girl.  I have tried quite a few sites and they all say girl except for one that says boy..

try the candy thing when  you feel like you are about to throw up.. it helps me.. ginger candies help too.  hope you feel better soon so you can gain the weight needed for your pregnancy.

Yes I have read lots on the subject and hard candies are suppose to help! I bought some jolly ranchers and those seemed to help. I am going to go to a health food store soon and get some real ginger ale. (Since most of the regular ginger ales have NO ginger in them..)

Sorry to hear you are so sick too! That is weird that lying down helps you! I have to sit up when I feel nauseated or else the whole room spins. It just proves we are all so different! :)

I feel sick too all day though . I am not vomiting just feeling like I want to ( I don't know what is worse ) I do think that fruit helps but just getting the energy to go prepare something is horrible!

I have never ever been so sick in my life.  I keep maybe one meal a day down.  Sleep about 3 hours a night.  Totally miserable.  My "friends" keep reminding me that I did this on purpose.  lol.  The doctor said as long as I'm keep fluids down that I'll be fine.  I too am running out of things to eat becuase things have been ruined for me.  After throwing up broccoli I'm not sure I will ever eat it again.  It was horrible.  I'm praying and crying that it will get better soon (I'm at 8 weeks now) but I know that there is a chance that it could last most if not all of my pregnancy.  This is a first time for me.  One of the neat things is that I've had an ultrasound every week from week 5 so I've already become very close to this little bugger that is making me so sick.  Good luck, I definately know what you're going through.  Every time I look at my neice or nephew (even if I seem them out of the corner of my eye as I'm running to the bathroom) I know that this will all be worth it.

I really wish I could that it gets better...I THOUGHT I was getting over it but then I have had the worst day ever with the vomiting. I am a couple days from 11 weeks. I am like you today...I got one meal down that actually stayed down. :( BUT I am trying to stay optimistic because I figure my little one is just trying to get a couple more sick days in before I am in the second trimester and hopefully not sick!! :)

It is just bazaar to me because I have an iron clad stomach usually. My husband's whole family is a bunch of pukers though so I figure this kid is going to be like them! :) This is my first too.

I am sorry you are so sick! Hang in there and take some comfort (even though it might not be too much) that others are this sick and are making it through too!

I have been super sick with this preganacy! For 3 or 3 1/2 weeks I couldn't keep anything down. I told my doc and he put me on nexium. I have only been on it for a day but I am still getting alittle sick but not as much as I did before.

I am on Zofran. It is a miracle drug. Love it! Definitely recommend it...

I'm glad you found something to help

I am 8w4d and as soon as i wake up I have to run to the bathroom.  I too get a round of night sickness.  I usually wake up in the middle of the night needing to vomit.  I hate it!!
