OKAY SO I HAD NOT HAD ANY BLOOD WORK DONE EXCEPT AT BEGINING OF THIS PREGNANCY AND THOUGHT ....ARENT I SUPPOSED TO HAVE SOME DONE ALREADY...LOL SO AT LAST DR VISIT I WAS LIKE 26 WKS AND SHE ORDERED MY 1HR GLUCOSE, CBC AND RPK. I WENT IN TODAY TO HAVE IT BEFORE NEXT APPOINTMENT AND HAD THE ORANGE COLORED DRINK...I NO LOTS OF NEW PARENTS ASK HOW THEY TASTE AND TO BE HONEST IF U DRINK IT W A STRAW IT TASTES ALOT BETTER!!!!!!!!!!! SO ANYWAYS I AM A MEDICAL ASSISTANT AND I HAD TO HAVE MINES DONE AT THE HOSPITAL AND WAS UNDER THE UNDERSTANDMENT THEY ARE SUPPOSED TO CHECK BLOOD FIRST...FASTING BLOOD SUGAR THEN WE DRINK STUFF AND THEN THEY DRAW AGAIN.....WELL THEY DIDNT DO THAT I HAD TO DRINK IT FIRST THEN THEY DREW ME.......WHILE WAITING LIL VINCENT WAS GOING CRAZY!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I MEAN KICKING THE HOLY **** OUT OF ME MY WHOLE STOMCH WAS MOVING IT WAS FUNNY!!!

Yeah...they have you drink the drink then they wait an hour for it to get in your bloodstream and then they draw the blood. Mine was tropical punch and red. It was actually good...

they did the same thing for me and unfortunately I did not pass :0( I was really sad now I have to do the 12hour fasting test to make sure the results are accurate.  I will fast 12hours then get blood drawn then drink the ugly stuff that I may try drinking with a straw now.  take blood... eat then take blood again.  it will be a 2hour session according to the doctor.  My son kept kicking like crazy last time I took the orange thing too.  after like an hour I felt sick.. I was able to keep it down till after they drew blood and then on the way home I had to ask DH to stop the car I was just able to open the door and poke my head out.. I got rid of it .. all of it LOL.  I hope I will be fine this sunday,  I will be having another test the 2hour one with 12hour fasting.  this time I will stay away from sweets a few days before.  It will be hard because i crave it most of the times but it will be for my own good LOL

Yep... totally normal.  I had blood work at the beginning of this pregnancy and that was it.  Then, I had the anemia test done at my 27 week appt.  

With the glucose screen, there is no need to test you prior to drinking the drink.  They are not concerned with the level before you drink "The Drink"... only the number after you drink "The Drink".  The test is measuring how your body breaks down the sugar... it should break it down at a certain rate per hour.  If it doesn't do that correctly, you won't pass.  That is why there is no need to draw blood prior to drinking the drink.

Ha ha to funny! I have mine today and have to drink the Fruit Punch flavored one around 4! We see how that goes lol

yea i felt fine aftr the test me and db went out to eat and wen i got home i started feeling tightening and hardening n my tummy and A LOT of pressure down below for about 3 hrs off and on till finally he made me go to the er and sure enough at 28 wks i was starting to contract. they had to give me medication to stop the contractions and we didnt get home till about 1:30am
