heart monitor

My sister in law gave me a pocket heart monitor.  Has anyone used one of these before?  I am only 8 weeks preggo, will I hear anything yet?  I am so excited and worried that hearing a heartbeat will be awesome.   I saw it in the us but need to hear it.

I haven't tried one...I was tempted to buy one. I have read that sometimes they don't work until the baby is really big...so don't be discouraged if you don't hear anything for awhile! I have read that they aren't as good as the ones the doctors have so not to be alarmed if they don't pick up yet.

I don't think that you will be able to hear a heartbeat this early.  If it is a reaaally good one, you might be able to hear it around 12 weeks.  Otherwise, AmyC311 is correct.  Most of the home monitors will only pick up the heart beat when the baby is larger.  Good luck though... I hope that you are one of the lucky ones! :)

I used one for my son and I barely heard anything before 22 weeks. But I guess it depends on which u use, mine was one from walmart. :) good luck!

Thanks for responding girls.  I didnt want to try it then be discouraged when i didnt hear anything.
