vaccinations

Okay ladies, Mady is almost about to go for her 2 month check up, which includes shots. I have a few people telling me to not give vaccinations or be careful of what I put together.  I am planning on vaccinating her but wondering about seperating shots.  DId anyone else do this, or just follow the dc's plan?  Thanks

The shots you have to worry about aren't until they are like 1 or 1 1/2. I just asked my doc right out what she was giving and what the side effects were. I also asked her if she gives her kids the same shots and if she leaves any out! haha She is young and has a baby and is about to have another so I figured if she did it then it might be ok. She said she got her kids completely vaccinated. So yeah...

I am not sure yet what I think about MMR. I am going to do some research but I have read that doctors are nervous that there is going to be a sudden rise of these diseases since so many people refuse to get their kids vaccinated.. so I don't know. The two month shots are ok though I think...I would love to hear from anyone who knows other wise or has some sources for research to share!!

I am all about following doctors recommendations :)  John and I discussed separating them, but we felt that would put our baby at a higher risk of getting a disease that she wouldn't be immune to, and for what reason?  There has been extensive research done on the issue of immunizations and autism (which is why some parents choose to separate the vaccines out of fear of this).  And, we are comfortable with the tradition shot schedule based on the research that has been completed.  

And, Amy is correct.  Parents who believe that autism and shots are connected blame it on the series that is given to the kids when they are between 1-2 years of age.  So, don't fear... if you are worried about the shots causing autism, it won't be from you giving them to her now :)  You are doing the right thing.  There is a lot to be worried about, isn't there!

I do not necessarily believe in the autism / vaccine link - but I do think that doing so many vaccines at once for one little body is a lot. I went into my 2 month yesterday requesting to break them up - Hayden is not quite 11 lbs - so I thought 2 shots per visit was fair. The DR explained the vaccines are not effective when broken out and it is in our best interest to do them all at once. I still was not on board but did not have evidence to support breaking them up on hand - so I went with her recs and got all 5. I guess all said and done - they would not do this day in and out for so many kids if it was unsafe.

Hayden screamed bloody hell and slept REALLY well last night - today she has not been a great napper - but is more or less back to normal. she did not have a fever - which some babies experience.

I guess my dad put it best - it is far worse to risk them getting sick with a serious ailment then to get the shots. Some DOCs put 2 or 3 shots in one needle - my poor baby got 4 pricks and an oral dose .... but I guess she is on her way to being well protected.

the schedule here in Canada is 2 needles every 2 months (some needles include more then 1 vaccine the one he had had 5 in it). we are splitting them up, our Dr is willing to do it but does not see a reason for it. I just think its too much going into thier little bodies at 1 time, so Carter will get 1 needle every month, I did have a cousin die of sids the day after getting her first set of needles so my family is a little scared.

Carter did not do well with his vaccine....at the office was fine, he on'y cried for a second. But that night he scream bloodly terror for hours. and for the next few days he was really out of sorts and would only eat about 1ounce at a time. I don't think this is connected but he has been spitting up big time ever since the needle (he never use to at all) and tomorrow will be 1 weeek since the needle and he might be almost back to normal although he slept all day today even though he slept all night

It worries me because she gave him the "easier" one with less side effects. I just think its too much too soon. I've been reading about the 4th trimester and think we push our babies to much
