Shopping for Baby

Ok..... The old wives tales says Don't shop for baby until your 5months pregnant. I am now 5months and still worried about shopping to early. I at least want to get the basic things out of the way. Bottles, pampers, t-shirts etc. What do you all think about shopping now? Has anyone started shopping yet. Funny some1 else posted this question & I answered now I can't make up my own mind.
Have a nice one!!

I don't think stocking up on the diapers is a bad idea, just dont get too many newborns as your pumpkin may be big or grow quickly. My bf had her pumpkin last Wed and a week later she went through 72 diapers so they go fast lol@@

Me and the hubby tossed around the idea of cloth diapering for abit. They are so cute now =) We have a cloth diaper store not far from home and they are so neat. The only issue is I am definitely going to have to go back to work so I am not sure I can commit to keeping up with it. So we have in the long run decided to go ahead and and use disposables. We have yet to buy any though- anyone stocking up yet???

about diapers.. can't say i have experience with them just yet, but i have heard great things about my brand of choice: seventh generation diapers. my plan is to buy them in bulk on amazon.com. most stores will allow exchanges if baby grows out of them before you go through them, so i'll just take them and get a size up if i have left over packages of the newborn size, for example. that is the plan! i did the math and it evens out pretty well with the more popular brands.. the reason i pick them is seventh gen really goes above and beyond when it comes to quality of the diapers materials, and environmental concerns.

i think you'll find its a jewish custom not to bring anything into the home until after the baby is born, i think if you go by all the superstitions then youd never do anything, if you see something and need it get it, just think mums have tons of stuff in thier homes and have 2nd/3rd kids etc, if i did what my mum sed when i was first pregnant id not have anything baby orientated in the house until i was 8 months pregnant....
my loft is now crammed from my last pg 4 years ago, im def not getting it out of the house until 8 months, in fact im planing on getting it out next weekend because my scan is next week and im hoping ill be able to sort out what i need and dont need xx

I have only bought 1 thing for my baby girl so far. I am a little hesitant but more so because I am going to have a shower and kind of want to see what I am gonna get from that. I will probably buy some stuff before hand though if I can find some good deals =)

Ignore the old wives tales!!!! I am. I think we all have to have faith in our pregnancies that everything will be fine =)

Happy Shopping!!

I am almost 18 weeks now, and I haven't gone crazy in the shopping department yet but this weekend we are moving the office stuff out of the "baby's room".  We have an genetic appointment and US on Oct 28th and although they could tell us the baby's sex at that time, we have decided not to find out.  Which I have to admit, is making this shopping stuff a little more difficult.  I have had a miscarriage a few years ago and also am a little nervous about jumping the gun but need to stay positive and pray for a healthy baby.
I think that shopping for your little one is just fine, especially at 5 months along.  You never know when they may decide to come into this world, and I'm told that the 2nd tri is a lot easier to move around and get stuff done then the 3rd!  We might not want, nor have the ability to do these little things as we get bigger.  Enjoy this time and let us know what you find out there, as any product advice you ladies have for me is welcome!  :)

I am like mmeriche...I was picking up here or there when I saw deals (like the 3pc baby monitor set at a yard sale for $2 and it all works!) but hadnt really bought to prepare. I found out the sex and we are now starting the buying phase...we are getting the baby bed next month on the 4th (free paycheck...lol) and tho it is early for that...you never know if the lil one is going to surprise you a little early. Nothing wrong with being prepared but I do keep tags and receipts as a just in case like he turns out to be a she...lol!!

Thank You!!!   I'm so ready to shop. So I guess I'll get started. I'm so use to using White Cloud diapers but they don't sale them anymore so I don't know what to use. I appreciate you help.

i have bought a few things here and there.. stuff on major clearance or deals i couldn't pass up.. i decided to put aside all superstitions or wive's tales with this pregnancy. tough at times, i do have to catch myself!

imo, shop away, and to your hearts content. i have been in major planning mode especially over the last few days, and am about ready to start with some of the more major purchases. it is so fun to plan a nursery! hope you enjoy :) i think i need to find that old baby products post and bring it back to life so we can continue to recommend stuff to each other. there really are such awesome baby products out there these days!
