Howdy to all.  Thought I better say hi while my hubby has my baby who is a little fussy due to his 2 month old shots on Monday.  I can't believe he is that old already.  He weighed in at 14 lbs 3 oz. so nursing must be going VERY well.  He gained almost a whole pound and he grew an inch in just a week.

Michele - How is your little guy???  I bet he is getting big too.  He is two months old already as well.  I hope you are doing ok also.

Chloe - You also I hope all is going well with you.  How big is your little guy now???

Kassimom - I hope you go soon.  If not it is only a week away.  I bet you are so excited.  I am excited for you.  If possible spend A LOT of quality time with your DD.  We took our DD out the weekend before and had a huge family outing and let her go to Build a Bear wkshop and get something special.

To all other preggos good luck to all of you and I hope you all have safe healthy happy pregnancies.  To those who are trying to concieve Good Luck and do not give up.  To those who have suffered a loss my prayers are with you and I am so sorry.  I have been there.  2 months after my m/c I was pg again so it can happen.  I better go for now my baby is getting fussy again.  Take Care and hopefully I can get back on soon.

I posted this on the open forum for Monday but I was not sure if you were going to see it.  It is about the class you were suppose to take:

I took the class with my first but I do not think it helped. I think it only worked for my DH because he was able to read the monitor and helped me out TREMENDOUSLY through all of my contractions since I did it without the epidural. Just take the epidural and you will not feel any pain and will not have any use for the breathing they teach you in the class. (Just kidding) if you can do it without meds great but if not go for it. You have seen the breathing in the movies it is pretty much like that I think. Good Luck and you'll do just fine I promise. Take care. How much longer do you have??? I am sure you have said but I do not get on here much anymore. Bye

My dad took care of me when she walked out on me.. and when she left she LEFT.. She didnt come see me.. she choose her friends over me.. just didnt care... She had me fooled once again.. I actually thought that she was being nice to me because she cared.. turns out she just wanted to use me to get what she wanted from my dad.. just like shes used everyone else.. Oh well.. Im not gonna stress over her anymore.. Im tired of the games she keeps playing with me.. And I cant wait for her to lose in court.. All the things my dad has that shes trying to get he OWNED BEFORE THEY GOT MARRIED!! So i just dont see her winning this one.. Anyways.. im off to bed.. big day shopping tommorow!! Take care!!

To: Tension Headache
Well yesterday I ended up at the ER with a severe headache that had lastedfor over 24 hrs. They gave me a shot of demerol and Phenergan for pain and sent me home with tylenol with codeine. Headache is milder now but is still there. they are going to keep a close eye on my blood pressure to make sure it doesn't go high.

Anyone have any suggestions on making this thing go away totally?

I have a ? for anyone that has been on clomid........I will start my first cycle this Friday and I was wondering if the same time span applies as far as having sex after I take it...........because of taking it CD 5-9 is the ovulation time usually the same (around day 14 or so)..........I didn't get much info on the clomid when I picked it up like I thought I would and I was wondering if any of you ladies could help........

Wish I had a surefire remedy, but all I can offer is the obvious, and then a sort of weird method I read about recently that actually did help my husband with a recent bad headache.

Take Tylenol in the recommended amounts as often as directed.  Rest in a darkened room with a cool cloth on your forehead for at least 8 hours (obviously making someone else take over the household chores for the day).  Sip on water, juice, Sprite or whatever takes soothing to you during the day.  Do not watch TV.  No internet!

The weird method I read about consists of taking a handful of hair in your hands, and GENTLY twisting and pulling it for several minutes.  Rest a few minutes, take a different section of hair and do it again.  Do this slowly and gently all over your head.
(Hey--I said it was wierd, right?  At least you can try it while you are resting in your dark room!)

*it did help my husband after about 1/2 hour or so.

Your hair-pulling method isn't as strange as you may think.
A massage therapist I was seeing did this to help relieve tension in my head caused by a neck injury. The relief was tremendous!
It helps to loosen up the scalp muscles, which in turn can help relieve some of your tension.
Other than that, get some rest, and I hope you feel better.

Thanks for the advice and it did help. I look silly sitting here at work pulling my hair but hey if it works I don't care.

I was also wondering when preeclampsia usually starts. I thought this was kinda early because I am not quite 12 weeks yet.

by Christie2004, Nov 09, 2004 12:00AM
To: tres
Pre-eclampsia would not surface this early.  WHY ARE YOU AT WORK???
I thought I told you to rest, girl!

Seriously, though--typically pregnancy induced hypertension is a disease of the last trimester, although in very severe cases it can begin near 20 weeks.

Migraines and plain old headaches can and do often worsen at any time during pregnancy due to hormonal and fluid balance changes.  Rest, rest, rest, Tylenol in recommended amounts, Ibuprofen ONLY if instructed by your doctor (can be dangerous later in pregnancy and should never be used unless specifically under doctors orders), and relaxation techniques might help.  Prescription meds can and are sometimes used if the headache is bad enough.

I know I should be at home and may leave early if it gets worse but it is our busiest day of the week and we had another call off. Great to be the supervisor. I am using the meds they gave me only if I have too. I have also just found out that hot tea helps. I may check with my doc and see if I am allowed to go to a chiroprator or massage therapist. It seems that this headache extends from between my shoulder blades up and around the topof my head. UGH.

I, too, am still waiting to finally get pregnant.  It is a lot harder than I thought it would be.  It is amazing to me how people get pregnant at all!

Thanks for the advice on the pre-natal classes, i think that were just going to skip them. My body will do what comes natural, and i think DH will do just fine without the classes. I just turned 28 weeks today, and the dr told me today that the baby is in the vertex position already. She doesn't think he/she will move out of it, but she sais you never know what these little peanuts do.

Hope your all doing well today, how is the weather were all of you are?

Well i'm 28 weeks today, and went for my Dr appointment this morning. I have gained a total of 20lbs in 7 months, and the baby is now in the vertex position. She did say that he/she can move before then, but she didn't seem to think so i guess he/she is loged in there pretty good. So the little pokes that i've been feeling on my left side has been the babies bum, and she was able to feel the babies hand. She has advised me that i can no longer sleep on my back, and if i enjoy sleeping on my back to just put a pillow behind me. I did ask her about the flu shot, and she did advise me to take it since the baby will be here in February. Is anyone pregnant and have ashma(sp?)? I did ask the Dr if it's okay to take my inhaler, and she said yes if i can't breath the baby can't breath. Have any of you ladies ever had a problem with it?

by Christie2004, Nov 09, 2004 12:00AM
You should absolutely follow your doctors advice and use your inhaler as directed when needed.

If you find you need it more and more often, see your doctor about furthur steps in management.  Asthma in pregnancy is no joke--serious attacks can be hard to control.

Thanks for the advise on the inhalers, i just feel like they might hurt the baby in some way. I've made it to 28 weeks without having to use them, that it makes me wonder if something might happen. I thought that it was the baby pushing up on my lungs already, but she sais that the baby is still to small to be doing that. She was saying that it normally doesn't happen until about 32 weeks or more, she sais it is oviously my asthma that is acting up. She made me do that blowing test, and my breath was going between 250-300. Do you know what that means?

massage theropy during pg is awsome!!!  it's awsome anyway, but oh man my boobs and belly are so big now that i have a horrible time keeping my back and neck in....so i started off going to the chiropractor but that seemed to just temporarily make me feel better....so i started going to the LMT and wow what a difference.   some LMT's have tables that the belly pulls away to make room for expanding mommies and if they don't have that then they usually have body pillows so that you stay on your side but more toward the tummy.
i had the same type of tension that you are discribing that goes from about shoulderblade level up the base of you neck and head to the top of your head.....and i tell you what (at least my LMT) she has magic fingers. ;o)
i also have an appointment already set up with her that as soon as my doctor says we are just waiting for baby to get here....she's going to massage my feet...heehee (there is a spot in your foot that can cause you to have contractions and put you in labor....i ask my dr. about doing it to help put me in labor and she said great.)
good luck i hope your headache goes away soon......BTW i used and icepack on my neck at night for 20min. intervals and that helped me tramendously.

To: christie (speaking of asthma)
can you develop asthma as a pg thing? like gestational diabetes??
just wondering.

No, you wouldn't necessarily be at higher risk for developing it just b/c of pregnancy.  It can happen at any time, although usually you will show signs of reactive airway disease in childhood.

I developed it suddenly in my late 20's, for no apparent reason.  Go figure!

How are you doing? I haven't talked to you in awhile, how is your pregnancy going? How far along are you now?

On the Asthma thing, i didn't develop it until between ages 18-20. As a kid i was very active, and had no signs of breathing problems. I have very mild asthma now, but it has gotten worse in the last couple of weeks. I thought that i would be able to go without it, but i wasn't able to i literally felt like i was suffocating to death. I'm not going to take her recommended dosage that she told me to take, i'm going to try and start of with 1 puff of each medication twice a day. I should be taking 2 puffs of each twice a day, but i just want to see how i handle this at first.
