Hey you. I read your post from Saturday and how cute of the boy to say that (about the "that's what I was when I was born")  I cracked up.  I am glad you had a nice Thanksgiving.  We traveled in a freakin' snow storm and what usually takes two and a half hours to get there took 6 1/2.  I was PEEEEEEEEEEEED OFF!!!!!!!  Thank God Christohper did ok.  I think it was the six yr old DD that did worse.  Luckily we came to a stand still due to an accident so I could take him out of his seat to nurse for a while until we moved again.  I even had time to lay him on my seat and change him.  It was awful (the trip I mean)  I told my DH NEVER again will we do this.  If it snows like that again we WILL NOT be going anywhere.  Well I am glad to hear little Colton is doing well.  I am glad to see he (and you for that matter) survived your first big holiday.  Now on to Christmas.  Well little buddy is crying AGAIN.  It is his bedtime so I have to go lay down with him.  Any suggestions on how to get him to start going down in his own bed????  Thanks and you take care.   Bye

LMAO-Good luck on trying to get him in his own bed! I am struggling with Colton with that already. I felt more comfortable with him sleeping with us until DH began guilt tripping me. he is afraid the comforter will smother him-truth is, it kind of scares me too!

Angel-OMG! Walmart on the day after T-giving!! You ARE crazy! LOL And I thought I was nuts going to Hobby Lobby today for some X-mas deco (on sale 40-50% off!) But it wasn't too bad.

For those of you nursing, does caffiene affect the baby for you? Colton has been WONDERFUL until last night. I drank a glass of tea at dinner and he was up till 4:30 am!! NOt screaming or anything. He just wasn't sleeping well and when he doesn't sleep well I don't sleep well. He would fuss and stir every 10-15 min's! It was a LOOOOOONG night.

Caffeine is a big no-no for me after 4 pm or so. It takes 4-6 hours to peak in our system, so I imagine it takes a few more for theirs. I tend to notice the same thing, if I have a soda with supper, Tristan "peaks" about midnight or so and is hard to get back to sleep.

We actually switched to caffeine free pepsi or root beer in the evenings and I do not drink my lattes after 2pm. If I happen to be out and about and decide to grab a latte after 2pm, I bring it home and put it in the fridge for the next day (I always drink iced drinks, even with a foot of snow on the ground). I have suffered many sleepless nights because I chose to take the chance and have a latte at 4 or a regular pepsi at my in-laws at 6. no more, that temorary buzz to get me through the evening is not worth a night without sleep : )

Hey everyone, hope you're enjoying your weekend. Gees, it's almost over already, time is flying by. I'm off all week too but I still enjoy the more relaxed weekends, no getting up for school and making DH's lunch. I hate making lunches.

So, who's ready for Santa? I'm very close....I've been trying hard to finish up. I even have the gifts that are going out of the house wrapped, well most of them anyway. That's a big chore out of the way. I didn't tackle the kids yet but DH can help with that.

Well, yes, still have the freaking cold but it is winding down a bit. All the **** is coming out of me now, caughing like crazy and blowing my nose but it's at least coming out.

Well, I had a good pain last night, thought I was going to go. I have tons of pressure today and back ache too so I'm hoping I'll go tonight or maybe even this afternoon. Keeping my fingers crossed anyway.

Have a great day everyone!

Come on, Cape.  We're all rootin' for you!  Today would be excellent!

Just got back from a good old walk down the mountain to the Cascade Dam.  It always seems like such a good idea going down, but the 1-1/2 mile hike back UP leaves me wondering where my brain is.
The dam was beautiful today, as we had a lot of rain yesterday.  The water was just roaring over it.  And hey--I found a way to climb down (don't worry, it's not far from the road to the actual top of the dam).  There is a very wide ledge right at the top of the dam where I plan to bring a camping chair and sunbathe if the weather is nice tomorrow.  Couldn't hike down there today as Ben the Dane would have freaked out.
Don't worry--I'm quite a chicken and wouldn't do it if it wasn't safe!  Hikers have strung steel cables along the path to the top of the dam, and it is obviously used from time to time.

I'm so glad to be home!

Hope everyone is doing well.

AAhhhhhh....mystery solved then. I didn't think tea had that much caffiene but it must have enough to affect him because he was up all that one night. OOOOOkay, so now I know to cut out the caffienated tea and only drink caffiene free tea.

Anything else that affects your little one  with breastfeeding? I have eliminated onions, spicy foods, broccoli, cabbage and dairy from my diet because a book said that those are culprits for gas. But I think I should at least add dairy so I can get calcium for both he and I and dairy never bothered my DD.

I have learned that sausage is a no-no for Colton. He tooted for hours after I ate that one afternoon!

by Still_AndiJ, Nov 28, 2004 12:00AM
I switched to lactaid whole milk and Tristan has no problems. You can also get tons of calcium from other sources like OJ and certain veggies. I swear by lactaid ultra tablets if I am going to be eating cheese or breve's.

Sausage or any spicy meat is awful for Tristan as well as too much sugar : )

Hyland brand colic tablets are a god send (more effective than Mylicon in my book). You live in Houston, right? Kroger sells them, along with the Hyland teething tablets. They turned my screaming fussy baby into the sweet little darling we knew was in there all along : ) They dissolve in saliva, so you just put 2 in their little mouth and poof, they are gone. All natural and they are subject to FDA approval, unlike most other herbal stuff.

Hey all,
Anyone know if teething causes a rash??????
Talon is teething (just shoot me now) and he has had this rash for about a week.
I didn't think a whole lot of it at first because I couldn't see it, only feel it. And it was just in one spot on his belly. Now it is in a few spots on his belly and a few spots on his back.
It started about the time I tried him on oatmeal so I stopped that but the rash is getting worse. It also started about the time we moved him into his own room (not that he actually sleeps there for more than a few hours at a time)
He has a doc appt tomorrow for his 6 month check up but I just wanted to see if anyone knew about the teething vs. rash. I know a fever is normal while teething (he hasn't had a fever).................
Any info would be great.

Kassi.......I had problems with all sorts of foods in the beginning.....milk, soda, veggies, chocolate......the list goes on.........I don't have any problems that I can speak of now. I eat and drink what I want when I want........I drink way to much Mt. Dew but he doesn't seem to have any problems with it.

Chloe....I'm sorry you are having problems. I'm sure it is very painful. Seems that you are doing everything right though.
To actually get a shower EVERY day.....you are the lucky one......I STILL go days without one........and in the beginning I was lucky to get one every three days since Talon was never a napper (still isn't) We manage about 3 or 4 10 minute power naps a day. If we happen to go somewhere he will usually sleep in the car but that is it.
I had my older son at the er the other day and we were there for over 4 hours and this one woman kept coming out into the hall (I stayed out there to keep Talon away from the sick people) and everytime she was like....."he isn't asleep yet".......I just laughed at her......"no and he won't be anytime soon either".......she was amazed that he wasn't sleeping the whole time.....(don't I wish)....lol
Best of luck and hang in there!!!!!!!!!

Normally if there is a rash with teething it is confined to the chin area. Count your blessings, Tristan got his first tooth 2 months ago and is working on his 4th (it has a very thin layer of gum covering it, one more day and it is through!)

Doctors have revised their thinking when it comes to fevers and teething. Many want it checked out if it is over 100.4. as it could be a sign of an underlying infection. Keep an eye on things if he is running a little warm.
