Good morning !  Hope everyone is doing well.  I booked an appoinmtment for a 3D ultrasound, it's going to be on 12/8. I will be just shy of 20 weeks.  Has anyone had one done around that time ?  I'd like to see pics of how the baby looked !  I want to see what my Maura looks like, heck I want confirmation that Maura is an appropriate name !

shubunkin - Good luck girl !  Let us know as soon as you can.  Sending girl vibes to you.

Wisegirl-My doctor told me that it is better to wait until about 24 weeks or a little later, to get a better picture. Your baby still has not fattened up so you won't be able to see chubby cheeks and such, but hopefully you get a good picture. My doctor actually just tried for me when I went in for the u/s to see what the sex was and Alex was to small to get a good view and he didn't even charge us for it.

Everyone- Is is normal to feel like your baby is going to just pop out when you change into different positions at 33w. Lately I have been feeling extreme pressure down in my vagina at certain times. I figure it is just Alex pushing his little head against my cervix. He loves to stretch out, which is very uncomfortable at times. Especially when he kicks my ribs or pushes out my side.

I didn't have a 3d u/s done at 20 weeks, just the regular one and it was still amazing.  My girlfriend is having triplets (all boys, poor thing) and she had a 3d one done at 21 weeks.  I can't believe how real of a picture it is.  Yours should be just as good!

How exciting! I think those ultrasounds are sooooo amazing! I am so nervous! I have chewed all my fingernails off! I just hope they can tell what it is! If not it is going to drive me insane! I will let you know the second I get back!

The dr and the tech said the baby is showing to be quite big.  I should get a good pic, since they believe the baby already has fat deposits. She's estimated weighing a little over 10 oz at 18w !  When I checked online I get a range of average as 5.25-7 oz. My dr's not concerned but will not move up my due date either. He will not move up dates unless its over that 2 week before or after your due date mark they give you.

I went to the L and D dept yesterday, and they checked and monitored me there all afternoon. No new contaction,no dilation, but my cervix is effaced. So,i was given meds, and sent home on bedrest. They wanted me on full bedrest, but i have 3 kids [youngest is 4] ,so i have to be off my feet every 1 and a half hours, and can get up for a half hour to cook, shower etc.Dh is being a big help, and so are my kids.I hope my baby stays in till at least 35 weeks,if not longer. My dr thinks i was having BH ,but since i have been in labor 3 times before w/ my other children,my body just decided to get things rolling.I'm just glad that they have stopped, hopefully for the next few weeks.

MMG~ How are you feeling today? What did your Dr. say?

I am 28 weeks 2 days and I am terribly uncomfortable.  I have heard several of you talking about it feeling like the baby was going to push out of your cervix...so, i was ready for that.  What I wasn't ready for and haven't had anyone else understand or say they have had is this "soreness" in the muscles around my pubic bone (in the front)...kind of like i've been kicked (externally) or had some other kind of trauma (i.e. rough sex, sorry if TMI).  I usually use my leg to get enough leverage at night to turn over...now i can't b/c of this pain so I can't even roll over without help.

As if that weren't bad enough at my doctor's appointment yesterday my Blood pressure was up and my weight is too high and my hands are swollen and numb (and tingly).

I REALLY like being pregnant, really I do...and I fully expected some inconveniences...but I kind of thought that they would take effect in the last month or so of pregnancy...I still have almost 12 weeks.  I dont' know what I'm gonna do...I never imagined being this uncomfortable this "early".

Does anyone out there have any suggestions.  Also, can you please tell me what this pain in my pubic area is...it feels more external than internal.

Thanks in advance for any responses!

Sorry to hear that you are so uncomfortable but you are almost there and the next 12 weeks will fly by.  I cannot really relate to the pain you were describing and that you feel it more external than internal.  I have been feeling the pressure these days but for me its been internal--it kinda sorta feels like the baby is poking at me down there.

Regarding sleep and rolling over---I can totally relate to you and I have also felt my entire leg go numb in the middle of the night while I try and roll over.  What has kinda sorta helped is the full body cushion pillow.

You will feel better soon, your body is just trying to adjust to the final stages of your pregnancy.

sounds like you pulled a muscle somehow without knowing it?  Probably while you were sleeping.  Ohhh that sucks.  you poor thing.  It does get rough there at the end, but just wait until 34-35-36 when you can't tie your shoes or breathe!  hahahah  hang in there!!!  momttc

by andileigh, Dec 02, 2004 12:00AM
I have been researching and I have found some information that makes me think that it is pubic symphis instability.  I had never heard of this but what they are describing is very similar to what I am experiencing.  It is rather crazy.

Christy...have you heard of this?

As for the pain in your pubic area........I had it too although not as early as you.
My midwife told me that it is basically that everything down there is being spread out to make room for baby. I too felt it more externally especially when my midwife would push. Ouch!!!

Best of luck to you.....only 12 more weeks to go, hang in there!!

I am currently 21 weeks today and i have a question about pain.  I have asked this before, but got no comments.  I have been having issues with my tailbone hurting so bad.  It hurts to even get up out of a chair.  I work at a desk, but I make sure to get up and walk around at least every 20 minutes or so.  Has anyone else had this problem with their tailbone hurting?

Hi,

We have had a couple of rough days lately.  And I would like to have some of your imput on what has happened.  I am currently 13 weeks pregnant all has been pretty good. No major problems untill recently.  Tuesday night after my husband and returned from dinner I went to the bathroom and noticed blood on my panties went to the bathroom and found more blood while I wiped.  I then freaked out called my dr. she said heat and get my legs up ( which I did ) the bleeding stopped shortly after it had begun almost like a gush of blood.  Went to the dr. the next morning they did a ultasound and that seemed to look ok ( waiting on the rest of the results which are suppose to be back sometime today ).  So I then felt better by the time I left the dr.  This morning I woke up and had another gush of blood which also stopped as quick as it started.  Called my dr. asap they feel that I may have a tilted uterus.  But wouldn't they have told me this sooner since I have been in there allready for my first pregnancy exam?  And they seem to think all the pain that I have have in back and legs are also from this?  Could that be?  And even the gushes of blood they say are from it too?  Has anyone been through this?  Or should I be concerned that it could be something else?  Please give me any advice I am very worried.
Thanks Mamabear

I also was hoping for a girl in the beginning, but when I found out I was going to have a boy, I couldnt be happier.  My brother and his wife hava a little girl and were hoping for a boy this time.  Nope, another girl, they will be 2 years apart, and the first thing i thought was TWO WEDDINGS!  Congrats!

Congrats on your little boy!  Its so funny, my girlfriend having the triplets really wanted a girl, she's having all boys.  I really wanted a boy, I'm having a girl, and you really wanted a girl and are having a boy.  Next time (God willing) I'm gonna lie to myself and say that I want a girl... then maybe I'll get my boy!

I have a little girl that will be 7 next week and am currently 35 weeks with a little boy. I'm so excited, although a little nervous because I've just been used to having my little girl..

Sounds like your gonna have enough boys to have a little football team. At least you already have clothes for him..
Congrats again and best of luck to you..

Thanks everyone! Funny, because on my way home I thought to myself, well, no weddings to pay for! I think I am going to name him Daniel Paul. Daniel just because and Paul after my dad. I have a 9 year old named Joseph and a 5 year old named Tristan. This is my last one though. I think 3 boys plus one big boy(husband) is plenty!

I've heard pregnant women complaining about severe tailbone pain, and I don't really know exactly what it's from, except to tell you that you aren't alone.

See if you can get one of those cushions that are shaped like a donut to sit on, and ask your doctor if there is anything they feel you can do for pain.  You can almost certainly take Tylenol, so that would be a start if you haven't tried it.  You can also ice the area when you are at home laying down. Ice it for 20 minutes 3 times a day for at least 20 min if you can find the time.

It seems terribly painful.  I hope you feel better soon.

about the tail bone pain, yes i get that from time to time.  i think the baby puts pressure on the tail bone sometimes.
when i was a kid i broke my tail bone and it didn't heal completely back to normal so i always associated the pain with the baby puting pressure on the part that is out of alignment.

i always notice the pain more if i sit in a chair with no spinal contours. one of those seat cushions with the tailbone notch in it really helps.

I have a desk job too, and find that my tailbone gets very sore at times. All i do is just try to relax when i get home, i lay on my side so i don't put pressure on my tailbone. It's worked so far and i haven't noticed alot of pain, i also find that when it's really sore i just take a warm bath and message it a bit. Hope that helps and answers part of your question.

Thank you ladies for the responses.  I am on 21 weeks.  I dont know if I can make it 19 more.  I have already gotten as big as i want to, and I know i will certainly get bigger!  I am not used to being big in the stomach area or hips/thighs.  I have gotten bigger and I cant stand it!!!!!  I feel like i am suffocating sometimes.  I just cant wait to see my beautiful little boy!

by andileigh, Dec 02, 2004 12:00AM
Thanks for your comments...I called my mom and she said that she too had this issue...I said, "well at least i know i'm not crazy"...of course her response was ... "well I didn't say that, but the pain is real"

How sweet of dear ole' mom.

Now the problem is figuring out how to turn over in bed for the next 12 weeks ...hmmmmm this could get interesting!

Hey everyone! I miss coming here everyday!!!

Colton is sick! :( DH got a cold, gave it to me and now my poor lil man has it. Although it isn't too bad. A few coughs here and there and an occasional runny nose. I have to say I am SO GLAD I am nursing or I have no doubt he would be seriously ill.

Hope everyone is great!! Did Emma1 have Carrigan?

Hey everyone. I've been having painful contractions alot of the day but mostly when I stand and I was up through the night with cramps in my legs and thighs. I'm thinking it's getting really close. If I have pain through the night I'm heading for the hospital like I was told by the doc. If not, I have an appointment tomorrow morning. I'll stop by tomorrow if nothing happens!!!

Wish me luck!

Has anyone heard from Cleveland Lady? I was in the same position as she was and just returned home from the hospital after a short stay. Emma is fine, she weighs 3.2 lbs and is doing great. However, I am having steady contractions and was diagnosed with a UTI and Vaginosis!! They said had they not caught it, I could have went in to labor!! not good. I am seeing a High risk doc due to the fact the contractions will not stop and am on bedrest till Saturday when I see both docs again. Anyone have any ideas?

by Christie2004, Dec 03, 2004 12:00AM
To: mmg
I think Cleveland posted the other day that she had gone in and was not dilated, but was somewhat effaced and is on modified bedrest, only for a couple hours a day.

You need to be very, very careful and follow your doctors advice to the letter.  Bedrest is hard to follow, and I have seen many women who are supposed to be on bedrest think it is ok to be up and around a little while during the day.

Bedrest usually means STAY IN BED EXCEPT TO GO TO THE BATHROOM OR SHOWER.  You'll have to move the computer to the bed!

I hope everything goes well.  Don't be up using the computer excessively unless the doc says brief periods of sitting time is ok.

Hope you feel better soon.  Quick question, what is vaginosis?  Do you remeber getting any symptoms?  I wonder because I have had excessive discharge lately--bout light yellow.  It has no odor or anything and doesn't burn when I urinate but I am not sure if its normal.

by mmg9603, Dec 03, 2004 12:00AM
To: guinea920
Mine had a little bit of a yellow tinge to it. You may want to have it checked. Mine didn't burn either! The only symptom I had wan being really tired but I figured it was just being pregnant!!!

Christie, thanks for posting. I am on modified bedrest. They gave me a list of things to do. The high risk doc is doing another ultrasound today to see if my cervix is thinning out!! Hopefully not. Anywho, my husband is home all weekend, so he is here to wait on me! I see the high risk doc today and then my regular doc tomorrow. We shall see what they have to say!

Do you know what vaginosis is--this is what mmg mentioned earlier? I am 30 weeks and I have noticed excessive discharge that has been light yellow and I am not sure if this is normal.  Like I mentioned before, it has no odor nor burning sensation neither but I was just wondering.

Go here:

http://www.meritcare.com/hwdb/showtopic.asp?module_abbrev=HWKB3&pd_hwid=aa106097-sec&topic_name=Bacterial%20vaginosis%20during%20pregnancy&sequence=1

'Splains all about it.  You need to go to the doctor and have some very simple tests done to see if there is indeed anything going on.  Some increase in discharge is normal.
