1/2 dose of clomid--is it enough?

1/2 dose of clomid--is it enough?

My dr prescribed clomid to help me get pregnant, and I'll be starting it on day 5 of my next cycle, about july 7 or 8.  Since I concieved twins the last time I took clomid, he put me on only 1/2 dosage, 25 mg.  I conceived the twins on 100 mg--is 25 mg going to be enough to get me pregnant?

did you try 50mg first with your twins?

we tried 50 mg first (for 3 months) and when that didn't work, i had a laparascopy.  they found endometriosis and some of the growths were restraining my fallopian tubes from picking up the egg.  they lasered most of it and got rid of the rest with provera for 3 months.  after that i started on 100 mg of clomid the next month, so i don't know if the 50 mg would have worked in the first place if i hadn't had endo.

ok...are you using an opk if so did you get a + serge while on 50mg?  just because your tubes weren't able to grab the egg doesn't mean the egg wasn't there.
i just don't get why you would go from 100mg to 25mg and besides what if the endo was what was actually the problem to begin with and you actually O on your own just fine?
sorry just a thought maybe something to talk to your doc about.

i haven't taken any clomid while we've been ttc this time.  dr put me on 100 mg of clomid the month before we got pg with our twins and i did surge on about cd14, i think.  anyway, my cycles have always been pretty irregular and i never have ovulated every single month until i got on the clomid.  dr put me on 1/2 dose this time because he said a whole dose might get us twins again (to be honest, i would like twins again!!) but i did have some problems when i was pg with them that i don't really want to go through again.  my fear is that we'll have to go through another 2 or 3 months on 25 mg for nothing, when we've already been ttc for right at a year.  i guess my dr knows what he's talking about, but i am the queen of impatience, and i want to get pg now!! thanks for your imput:)

hey no problem i know exactly what you mean...we tried for 19 months before we got pg this time.
maybe ask after one month to bump up to 50mg.
btw i took clomid 50mg for 4 months the end of the 3rd month we figured out it wasn't actually me that was the problem but we did a 4th month anyway and finally got pg. infact now they think we may have gotten pg on our own, but that we will never know for sure. good luck

thanks nanci--you really made me feel better.  i guess after you've waited for 11 months, one more won't really make a difference--not much anyway!!  And why take more med if you don't have to--the 25 mg may be just enough to rev up my ovulation and get us pg!! thanks again for taking the time to talk:)
