It is good that you are taking him to the doctor. It could just be a GI bug. Good luck to you and keep us posted! :)

My dd has a seizure at 103.  I would not wait till 104.  Temp can go up within seconds and if you are giving him tylonel that is the only reason why it is going down.  Get him to the ER.

My third daughter had the tendency to run very high fevers. She got up to 105 one time but there really isn't a whole lot that they do that you can't do. That was what I was told when I called the ER. They said she may even have some febrile seizures but not to worry! Like that would have been easy to do!!! Tylenol and a luke warm bath is what they suggested to cool her down. I know though...there were nights that I stayed up with her all night long, making sure she was okay because she was so sick and her fever was so high. It's hard not to worry, but fevers are normal. I hope he feels better soon!

You're taking him to the Dr soon so stay calm.   If his fever keeps increasing you can always go to the ER.

So the fever is down - this morning it was 101 and he is not hot at the moment.  The dr said not much he can do, but they may have to get a pee sample and stick the Catheter in his pee we why don't the just give him antibiotics.  I will not let them to that F no.  IT will be to painful - f that dr i will go to another one tomorrow

Kris- Try not to worry to much.  Is he eating, drinking or active at all or is he out cold most of the time.

I always ran really high fevers....still do.  There are times as an adult I get to 104.....

How is he doing today?

He is better today.  He is eating and drinking.  not eating to much but eating - he threw up this morning but i think it was to much formula.  He is happy and i am giving him med for fever motrin(sp) every 5-6 hours and it brings it down to 99 - not is cold to much it is going to be 75 today so my sis is taking him outside

every child is different.. I know that my child as soon as he hits ANYTHING above 98.7 IS a slight fever for him..As for teething he has been as high as 101.9 but he wasnt lethargic or anything...I think that you know your child and regarding what the drs say...personally anything at 102 is a fever and SHOULD be checked unless like my ds has a fever for teething..good luck and keep us posted im happy you are bringing him in..

It has been like this since Monday.  Sunday he threw up and couldn't keep any thing down but was better in the evening and then Tuesday fever of 101 and the runs, Tuesday fever 99 - 102, Wesday 103 in morning and then went to 99 and last night stayed up as well as the night before dr said wait it out WTF this is killing me sis said he looks like he is better.  she is going to check his temp - it was 101 this morning

Kris - Try not to worry.  My little Jake has been out of sorts since Thursday....it's now a full 7 days.  He had this stomach virus that started Wednesday evening through Saturday morning....since then, he's eaten but not more than 4 oz at a time which typically he's downing 6 oz every 3-4 hrs.

Now - Jake hasn't had a fever even in the midst of it.....

I think a fever for more than 3 days should be worrisome to the Drs though.

I know it is hard to hear, Kris. But if it is viral (which is very likely) there is nothing the doc can do. Temps are the bodies way of showing it is trying to fight an infection and if he is still eating and generally happy, let his body work.

Many docs consider symptoms as weighing as heavily, if not more, than a fever. A child with a fever of 101 who is lethargic, not eating or drinking is a priority call. A child with a fever of 103 who is happy and eating and drinking is seen to be okay and likely their body is fighting the infection without help.

Giving antibiotics without running tests is dangerous. Overuse of antibiotics are destroying their effectiveness over time. That is how things like MRSA develop.

Take a deep breath, keep him hydrated, and keep checking in with the doc.

On a side note-CJ is a fever baby. Out of nowhere he will spike a temp of 103, run it for 2-5 days with no obvious sign of infection or other symptoms. He will be happy and playing most the time. He has been doing this for most of his young life. I figure with his older brother in school bringing home bugs, it is his body's way to show it is working hard to fight them off. He is healthy as an ox (about as big as one, too!)
