11 weeks and no heart beat

11 weeks and no heart beat

I started spotting on Sunday.  On Monday i went to the dr and they could hear a heart beat so they sent me for an ultrasound.  Well no heart beat there either.  Well my dr told me that the baby was dead and he wanted to do a d&c that night.  so i had the d&c done.  Well what could have made my babies heart stop beating?  could the ultrasound have been wrong and there really was a heart beat?  I have miscarried 10 times in the past but never after 6 weeks.  now i made it to 11 so i thought this time would be ok and it wasnt.  i need to know why?  Or what some reasons could be.

So sorry for your loss...it is so hard.  Has your ob/gyn checked you, your partner (hubby or otherwise) and the fetus(es) to find out what the problem might be?

Have you had your hormones -- progesterone especially -- checked?  I think I would ask for a thorough work up -- you can get pregnant, now you just need to be able to sustain it.

Your doc should do WHATEVER you want and need to find out what is going on.  Demand that he/she does.

I wish you the best of luck!

could something i did have caused my babies heart to stop beating?  i feel like its my fault.  the dr told me to take it easy.  i tried but i do have other children to take care of.  i stopped lifting them and anything else heavy.  i slowed down and didnt do as much around the house.  but i still wonder if it was my fault.

Please do not blame yourself for having a miscarriage!!!  A lot of us felt that way at first, but it is nothing you or any of us did.  I am so sorry that you are going through this.

You did nothing wrong.

You need to be getting some testing done though to find out why you have had so many miscarriages.

You could have a clotting disorder or a hormone imbalance or a too short luteul phase.

Get answers for yourself.

I am so sorry. I will be praying for you. I have had 6 miscarriages and now pregnant again and with this pregnancy I started taking a baby aspirin, metformin, and progesterone before conceiving and so far baby is okay. I just recently been tested for a blood clotting disorder and it came back that I have MTHFR. The baby aspirin helps blood flow to the baby. My doctor fills that it could of been the cause for my losses. They have all been unexplainable. With this disorder, I have to take a prescription prenatal vitamin with lots of folic acid and B-12 and B-6. Have you ever been checked for this? Please don't blame yourself. I know how you feel. Bless You.

when they did the ultrasound the baby measures at 8 weeks 3 days and i was 11 weeks 1 day pregnant.  there was also no blood flow being seen on the ultrasound whatever that means.  I know i have a short cervix.  in my last pregnancy that i actually managed to carry and deliver a healthy baby they has to put a stitch inmy cervix at 12 weeks to help me carry to term.  but otherwise no tests have ever been done to find out what is wrong with me.  there could be something wrong with my cervix though because i had surgery years ago on my cervix.  it was called cryosurgery.  i had abnormal cells on my cervix so they froze them off or whatever.  i dont know if that is whats wrong though but it could be a possibility i guess.

I would definately have tests to see what is going on.  If your doctor is not willing to do them, perhaps it is time to start looking for another one.  I changed doctors after my MC because of poor service and now I am much happier.  I don't want to be a problem patient, but I want the best care I can get too!  Doctors should really see what is happening with your body.  Good luck to you!

The baby I lost stopped growing at 8 weeks three days, and we didn't know until 11 weeks when it was confirmed by ultrasound.  It means that the baby faded at that earlier point but just didn't start to come out or give you symptoms in any noticeable way.  These problems are from the beginning, even when they don't manifest for 8 weeks.  When sperm meets egg, all the needed links and connections are established, but it often doesn't go perfectly.  For some reason, something doesn't link up.  The embryo can go along and develop as normal, until it needs that thing that was missing at the beginning.  But when that thing is needed, it's not there, and the embryo stops developing.  It isn't anything you did at 7 weeks, 8 weeks or 11 weeks, it isn't your activity level, it was programmed from the outset.  Do have tests run, and do whatever you can to be sure there is not a genetic issue coming into play, but don't worry that it was lifting or taking care of the other kids or any of that.  You did fine, this one was just not meant to be.  I'm so sorry for your loss, but do remember it wasn't you or your activity level that did it.  Good luck!!!  Annie

No, totally NOT your fault.  The baby is so protected in there that it takes a whole lot to effect him/her.  Did they say what the baby measured at??  So sorry for your loss.
