13 weeks pregnant - abdominal pain - Paranoid

by cantwait4baby, Oct 24, 2006 12:00AM
Just a question out there for anyone who may be going through something similar.  I have had a pretty bad pregnancy (9 days in hospital, etc.) but now that we made it past the first trimester the doctor said we are ok.  I did hear the heartbeat and I am blessed to have morning sickness.  I will take whatever I get so please don't think I am complaining.  My question is I feel like I am always in somekind of pain - not bad pain but just pressure down around my abdomen.  I am guessing it is stretching but it just seems like it is all the time, even during the night - worse after I go to the bathroom.  I also have horrible bowl movements that before hand cause me horrible pain in my abdomen?  Sometimes ending in spotting - causing me to go to the doctor to be checked out.

I know the doctor says we are ok but I would just like to know if anyone else has similar problems.  I am so afraid of hurting the baby or something happening to the baby that I pretty much just sit still all day - at work and at home.  I lost a baby 9 years ago (at 5 weeks never had heartbeat)but it is something I will never forget and it took me a long time to accept it and move on so maybe I am just paranoid?  Thank you for taking the time to read this.  Good luck to all of you outhere trying or who are pregnant.

My dear: I know how you feel , i have had 2 m/c already and I know how painful it is. First at all, you are bleesed to be on your 13th week. The worst has passed. so take it easy and enjoy your pregnancy. Those pains cannot be other thing that aches of pregnancy, also, the mind is powerful and make you see things were there is nothing. If you feel that those pains are out of control, why don't you check with another doctor? there is nothing wrong with that, your doctor won't feel ofended. On the other hand, check on-line for doppler rentals. you can have it at home and hear your baby's heartbeat whenever you want. don't buy the one at Baby's R Us. go on line and rent the real thing( the same one your doctor uses when you go to see him)this will give you a peace of mind. God bless you and your baby, you will be fine. Pray to God, he listens...

I have abdominal pain, too. Most of it I can tell is just the stretching thing, but sometimes I just feel like cra p. It's really bad if I DO need to use the bathroom...especially if I'm constipated. Sometimes, I wish I could have an epidural just so I can use the bathroom! LOL

When I try to lay down on my left side (like you're supposed to), my stomach hurts really bad, like I need to go...but when I turn onto my back, it goes away. Weird, huh?

Lately, I will hurt, but can't really pinpoint where or what is REALLY hurting. I just feel "yucky". This is frustrating! What's worse is that I have heartburn a LOT now. And I told my dh the other day that I could probably eat ONE raisin and end up with either heartburn or gas! LOL

Anyway, you're not alone in the pain game...I guess it's normal! :-) (I'm 14W 3D)

I would relax.  Make sure you check in with the doc if symptoms worsen.  Are you constipated at all? Drink lots of fluids.

Watm wishes for a healthy pregancy and a beautiful baby.

My guess would be constipation. That's very common. How are you BM's?
I understand where you are coming from about being paranoid, I am also in the multiple m/c boat. I am sure I will be the same way if I ever get to your stage of preg again.
And even though docs say your fine, it's hard to feel like "everything will be ok, this time" when you don't have a good track record. It's kinda like trusting a cheating partner after they have cheated over and over, or trusting a friend that has done nothing but lies. Well, maybe I am going a little overboard, but...you get my drift!
Congratz on getting to the 2nd trimester, your odds are better than ever now!
Good luck to you!

Thank you to all of you for your kind words.  The idea of ordering a doppler never even crossed my mind - now that is what I will be doing for the rest of today!  My family will be sick of our baby's heartbeat by next week :)  Thank you so much for suggesting that.

My BM are pretty bad and because they cause my cervex to bleed sometime (pressure) the doctor makes me take colace but they still hurt.

This forum is wonderful, it is so nice to have online friends with the same concerns.  Doctors give us the everything is ok but peers can explain everything better. -- Thanks and good luck to all of you:)

I had bellyaches for about a week around 12-13 weeks but now it's better 14w2d. It was right when I was getting over the leveling off of hcg stuff I think. I had bad headaches too. I don't get pressure or pain right in abdomen (ie below bellybutton, several inches). Only when I'm driving, and I can feel the bump and sometimes it even moves. Otherwise I really feel nothing which of course I'd rather feel something, kicks or gurgles or something (not pain though).

I'd still ask. Youdidn't say why you had 9 whole days in hospital--was it abdominal?

by cantwait4baby, Oct 25, 2006 12:00AM
Thanks Emma - I didn't realize is that why it gets better after 12 weeks because the HCG is leveling off?  My all day long sickness that I had everyday for the past two months started to subside last week.  I have had two good days in the past week with no sickness so I am hoping that is over.  (but I really dont mind it because it lets me know the baby is ok)  Anyway, I think my abdominal pain may be bowl related (gas) but it is in that area so it makes me nervious.  I was in the hospital about a month ago when my doctor told me to go to the ER when my heart was racing.  First they thought it was my nerves but in the ER they said it was irregular.  Turns out my heart was/is healthy but for some reason it would not beat correctly.  normal is 60-80 and I was at 160-180.  They think due to the morning sickness it knocked my rate off and the overflow of blood and fluids being pumped due to my pregnancy would not allow the meds to correct it so after 8 days they put me to sleep and shocked my heart.  I am still on meds but it is now beating normal.  (I was my OBGYN's first case of this - they were so puzzled)

I had my first headache this week too, what do you take for them?

Wow, its so refreshing to read that I am not alone.  I have exactly the same symptoms.  I am 13 weeks and have been going nuts.  My abdominal pain has been so severe.  I am battling gas from both ends and discomfort.  Whenever I have complained to my DR. he tells me everything is fine but I do not think that this level if pain is o.k. for me or the baby.  I concerned but I remain prayerful.  Be blessed.

well you posted to my very old post and I am sad to say that this went on for the remainder of my pregnancy but VERY HAPPY to tell you that I gave birth to a beautiful, healthy baby girl in May of 07.  She is 14 months old now.

Sorry you are suffering but it is worth it.  Good Luck.

hi,am so pleased these pages exist as like many of you I'm finding pregnancy a minefield of concerns! This is mainly due to a missed miscarriage last year so am paranoid of same thing happening again. Im now 12 weeks and 2 days pregnant and I too have had some pains which also seem to be worse after I've passed water and mainly at night. I've been told that at this time the uterus and of course baby are moving up into the abdomen so its understanable there will be some sensations. I also suppose that once you've emptied your bladder, everything "spaces out" again which could also explain some of the pain. Good luck

Hi, I am 12 weeks tomorrow....I have had a scan at 8 weeks and 10 weeks and baby was measuring correct & I saw the heartbeat but as I have had 3 miscarriages i am understandably anxious!! Last night I was kept awake by pains across my back & pains in my stomach...they reminded me of the pain i experienced when I went through the miscarriages. I am extremely concerned & don't seem to be getting any sense from anyone...If one more person tells me 'everything's gonna be fine', I'm going to scream!! Please could someone offer an explanation for the pain being strong enough to keep me awake. I'm really hoping it is going to be ok this time??
