18 weeks pregnant...fetal movement question?

by pmom, Oct 09, 2005 12:00AM
hi ladies, i have a qeustion and i hope i don't start an uproar(like on the last post...lol). I am currently 18 weeks 2 days pregnant and not sure if what i am feeling is the baby move. I have had 3 beautiful kids and had 2 miscarriages since last dec. I feel good about this one, everything is going awesome. I get to have another us done in 3 days and at my last appoint. we heard the heartbeat with the little doppler thing going strong at 150. So to sum this up i have been feeling little flutters and i wasn't sure if it could be gas or if it is my little miracle moving around in there. What do you think and do you think i will be able to see what i am having when i do have my us? Sorry if this a repetitive question but i always find your responses very comforting. Thank you in advance and good luck to all the ttc's out there!

About seeing the sex of the baby who knows? At 18 weeks if the baby is being good and keeps it's little legd open they should be able to tell but if the legs are closed you for sure wont be able to. I had my ultrasounds at 19 & 20 weeks and they could tell right away they were boys. Congrats and good luck!

i COULD TELL WHAT MINE WAS AT 20 WEEKS. THE FLUTTERS YOU ARE FEELING MORE THAN LIKELY IS THE BABY! CONGRATS AND GOOD LUCK.

I agree, the flutters most likely are the baby. I felt the flutters with my first at about 18-20 weeks, with my second I felt them much much earlier (literally 12-14 weeks) I found out the sex with my first at 20 weeks, my second I also found out earlier, at 13 weeks. That is how I knew the flutters I was feeling were him, while she was doing the u/s I turned away, felt him flutter, asked if he was moving and she about fell off her chair (he was) we did that a few more times and I knew from that moment on that it was him doing the jig in my tummy, lol!

Many things will determine whether or not you can tell the sex:

Quality of equipment
Ability of the technician
Position of baby (neither of my boys were shy, legsz spread wide open for every u/s)

Good luck!

definatly it could be the baby i had my first 3 months ago little girl i had the same thing with the ultrasound i could feel her moving and was telling the sonographer he said that sure is the baby i felt these at 16 weeks and that was my first very active little one she was. seeing as how this is your 3rd you should definatly be feeling the little nipper and yes they can tell the sex after around 12 weeks i think if the fetus is in the right position my baby wouldnt open her legs i desperatly wanted to no byt at 20 weeks i found out you could see iy plain as a bell and again it depends on the quality of the ultrasound equipment hope this helps good luck let us no how it goes and what sex the baby turns out to be amanda

That is what I was actually waiting for, the flutters that fell like gas but I guess I really didn't know what to "wait" for so at about 20 weeks or so my little one gave me a punch/kick in the arm while I was laying on my side and had my arm across him !! LOL. I don't think you are being silly or anything, after a m/c if you are like me I am always wondering if everything is alright. Ask Aks Ask !!!

I just found out I'm having a boy at 18 weeks, so as long as he or she is feeling cooperative, you should be able to find out :)
Plus, If you have had 3 children already I'm sure you know alot better than I do what fetal movement feels like :)
Mine is unmistakabel because the little sucker is strong and practially punches me,lol.
Only 7 inches long but mommy's little boxer :)
