2 Consecutive Miscarriages.

by asha_koushik, Apr 13, 2004 12:00AM
Hello Sir/Madam,

We have been trying for a baby since last 1 and half years and currently
have no children. My wife had her first miscarriage in Nov2003 and since
then we have not been trying for 3 months. In March 2004 we tried again to
have a baby and after that on the 9th of April she had her periods where
she felt that she was getting too many tissues in her bleeding which makes
us wonder whether even this time we might have had a miscarriage. Just
before she got her periods, she also had slight dizziness and breast pain
which I guess are the symptoms that she might have conceived.

(My wife has been diagnosed as having the Beta Thalassemia Trait and I
(her husband of course!!!) do not have Thalassemia or any known genetic
disorders)

Now if this was really our second miscarriage,

What are our chances of having a successful pregnancy and a healthy baby.

What treatment should we take?

Is there a chance that another miscarriage will happen or should we wait
longer this time for her body to come back to normalcy?

Any help is very much appreciated.

Many thanks,

Siva

Should go to doc immediatly and draw blood to chk to see if she was even pregnant.  If she was, she'd still have HCG in her system.  Also, I'm sure you two will go on to have a healthy pregnancy.  Many women on this board have had multiple miscarriages and are now pregnant w/ a heathly baby! ;o)

To be sure there's nothing wrong, both of you could have blood tests done to chk various hormone deficiencies, and other possible problems effecting fertility.  I've had one pregnancy which ended in miscarriage last summer (6/03) and have still NOT conceived.  I worry too myself, but its very normal to be concerned.

I wish you both the best.

I have beta thalassemia trait.  We went to see infertility specialist and after taking some prescribed hormones drugs, I could only have 2 eggs.  The specialist who was very famous in town declined to perform the procedure for me.  He said that the possibility of getting pregnant was minimal.  He didn't want to take a chance.  He later told us to take infertility for women and men for both of us.  I didn't go back since then.  A year later, I was pregnant by myself but I had a miscarriage and 20 months later, I was pregnant with twins but had a miscarriage again.

just keep trying...I've heard of pregnancy successes even with beta t...just remember to space out the pregnancies because it can take a toll on a woman's body to be pregnant continuously like that.
