2 cm % 75 %, labor anytime soon????

I am 2cm and 75% effaced as of last night.  The nurse told me the baby's head was really low.  I was having contractions every 3-5 minutes and they hurt so bad.  I am still having some cramping today and I know it's just my body preparing me for birth, but I wonder when it will be.  I am only 34 weeks, but they didn't seemed to concerned about the contractions and me being dilated.  
With my DD I was induced so I didn't experience any dilation or contractions, so I am just a bit curious as to how things will go.
Aren't there a lot of people that stay dilated for awhile, meaning if they are 1cm that day they could go back two weeks later and still only be 1cm?

I was at 1 cm at 32 weeks and stayed that way until 37 weeks. Then I went to a 4 and stayed that way from 38 weeks until 39 weeks when I got induced. Everybody is different. My sister started to dialate and went fast, but I dialated slow until they started me on the patocin when they induced me. Sounds like it won't be much longer but I hope that it is for the baby. It is better to keep them in there as long as possible. Good Luck! And Congrats on the baby!!!!!!

I was dialated to 2 and a half for over a week before I had my DD. They never told me if I was effaced or not though. Im not sure how much of an indicator that would be to labor, but yes, you can be dialated for a while before dialating any more.

Once I actually went into labor, I went from 2 1/2 to 4 1/2 in 30 min. and from 4 1/2 to 8 1/2 in less than 5mins.

I was 2 cms and completly effaced for 3 weeks. =(  I thought it was going to happen sooner but it didnt. My dr. stripped my membranes at 39 weeks 3 days and I went into labor that night. Sorry and Good luck!!

I was at 1 cm for 3 weeks.  When they finally induced me at 41 weeks, I was 2 cm and 50% effaced.  I was barely induced and I went from 2 cm to 4 cm in a few hours and then from 4 cm to 9 cm in an hour.  Then I went from 9 cm to 10 cm within seconds.  You never know what can happen.

Thanks everyone! I am not wanting to have her just yet as to it's too early for me, but I was just curious as to how things go.  
I am fixing to go in to the doctor today, so I will keep everyone updated;)
