I had 3 m/c in the last 10 months. I conceived this pregnancy about 2.5 months after my last m/c. I am now 9 wks pg and we are very scared but this is the farthest I have been with any of them. It is definitely still possible. m/c are much more common that I ever thought.

2 miscarriages in a row

I need some advice/opinions.... I have a 3 year old son and we truly want to have another baby. However I have had 2 miscarriages within the past year. I waited the amble amount of time between the first miscarriage to try again and I indeed miscarried again. My progresterone levels/HCG levels were rising and all seemed fine until the ultrasound showed that the baby stopped growing a little after 5 weeks. My doctors say that at this point my chances of conceiving and carrying a baby to term are still good since I was able to have a perfectly normal pregnancy/delivery with my son. He says that they won't begin any type of testing to see if there is anything else going on unless I happen to miscarry again. I don't want to worry so much but should I push for testing now?

Dr's typically won't do any further testing until after 3 m/c, unless you are older.  I've had 2 m/c since June 2006, but since I'm now 40, I was referred to RE.  However, my dr said it was unlikely the RE would find anything wrong and that I should just try again.  Two m/c in a row could still be chance and may not be indicative of a problem.  Likely the embryos had chromosomal defects that caused them to stop growing, and there is nothing you can do about that.

If you are younger, I would just wait and try again.  Not many people have 3 m/c in a row (hopeful thoughts...I am sorry), so your chances of having another baby are still very high.  Even after 3 your chances are still good.

it really depends on your doctor and/or insurance company.  After my 2nd mc,  I asked my doctor about a specialist and she sent me without a problem and I was only 33 at the time.  If you feel like you want to see an RE push your doctor for it or call an RE and try to get in without your doctor's ok - again, depends on your insurance and the doctor as to whether that will work or not.  Secondary infertility can happen at any time so if you feel like you want to look into it further before chancing it again, most RE's will understand that.  Good luck to you.  Sometimes they don't find anything definitive, which is extremely frustrating.  But maybe you will be lucky and find out something or the next one will just work on its own.

I am so sorry. I worry that the same thing will happen to me. I have had one and can't help but worry it will happen again. My husband and I have been ttc and I can't get the thought out of my head that I will loose it again. I would probably at least ask about testing. Personally, I am not sure I would push for it after 2, even though I know the inclination would be there. I know I can't say until I am actually in that position. Do what you think will give you some piece of mind.
