2 questions regarding colds

Ds and I are getting sick..He is really congested coughing but not to the max and my nose hurts and i feel weak and all that fun stuff..he is just miserable and cranky and wants to sleep..anywho my first question is..is there anything i can give him to help him..i mean i dont like to dose him for nothing..i have given him a dose of tempra...it states it is for colds and flus as well as other things..you  guys prolly already know...anywho, do i just continue the dosage every 4 hours or? i mean if he continues to be miserable..he has a slight fever and all...now i usually wait until the last minute until I am sick as bad as i need antibiotics..i dont want him that sick and i dont want to get that sick..not that i did before either but you know...i feel icky too..itchy throat, sore all over, just feeling blah and lazy, nose is hurting etc etc...anywho I've taken a buckley's daytime pill and tonight i will be taking nyquil cough syrup...my second question is..im so scared of pregnancy..i mean if i did feel better and we regained intercourse would these meds affect the pill?? also, should i be worried of not being able to wake up tonight with taking these meds..they usually knock me out in 5-10 mins and makes me drowsy...what should i do...do you have any input..thank god i am going to my parents friday...poor them

oh btw the nyquil holds these meds...Dextromethorphan HBr 15 mg (Cough suppressant)
Doxylamine succinate 6.25 mg (Antihistamine) and the buckleys...30 mg Pseudoephedrine Hydrochloride, 15 mg Dextromethorphan Hydrobromide, 500 mg Acetaminophen.

When Jayden had a cold I gave him tylenol.  I usually gave it to him at night before bed and if he was cranky or sounded really bad.  He also had the coughing and congestion.  As far as you taking the Nyquil, I don't believe it has any effect on the pill, I think only antibiotics have an effect.  However, I wouldn't recommend taking them because you may feel extremely drowsy and it might be difficult for you to wake up if your ds is crying in the middle of the night.  It's probably possible to do it but it might be difficult.  I would just take any drug that does not make you drowsy.  I wouldn't take daytime medicine either because that seemed to have kept me up all night.  You can take tylenol as well.

I hope you both feel better as well.  It sucks being sick and having to take care of the baby.  My mom helped me when I had the flu.  It has to just run it's toll.  Drink a lot of fluids, I was very dehydrated afterward and was extremely dizzy.  Oh, to clear up his congestion run a hot shower and just sit in the bathroom as it steams up.  The steam should break up the congestion.  It will be good for both of you.  Just make sure your home is warm when you come out.  Also, vicks vapor rub, put it on his feet with socks and on his chest.  Keep me posted on the two of you.

do i need to use the baby vicks i thought about putting it in toilet paper puttin it in a sock in in his pjay...we are going to my moms friday so..i will get some rest..i think lol

I would it's probably less harsh.  I hope the baby gets better, it sucks when they are sick.

yeah hes not sleepin n like i dont want to spoil him..i also dont want to bring him to bed with me but its the only way he sleeps is with me these past few nights

I did the same thing when my ds was sick, I brought him in my bed and he slept better.  Remember, they are sick and feel much more comfort when they feel mommy.  You won't spoil him at all.

i understand...i am just so scared with the sids...soo terrified..its not even funny...an i know if i would having him sleep with me i wouldnt get much rest which i need...we are getting better..he is still cranky along with more teething..oh joy...i think more will pop soon...will see...we napped this morning on the couch..it was nice...
