2 sacs??

I went to the dr;s yesterday, and had an ultrasound. The tech saw 2 sacs, one had baby in it, they detected its heartbeat, and in the second one they didn't see anything. The tech said she could not say anything and would leave it to the dr. I asked her how far long I was and I am 6 weeks and 3 days. I had a miscarriage in July, and am so excited for this pregnancy, that i cried when i saw that the heart was beating. I called the dr, afterwards and he told me that it could be nothing, that it was normal and that he would keep an eye on everything, my appt isn't til dec 2nd which is a week and a half away. I do not want to get my hopes up, cause I'm already trying to contain myself for the sake of being so early in this pregnancy, but twins do run on my husbands paternal side. i've read on here that it just might too early to detect, but I'm excited/scared and need answers.

when I first wnet for my us with the twins i thought I was 6 weeks but doc said 1 baby measured 5w3d with a heart beat and the other was 5w with no heart beat but that it was a little too little to see. We went back 10 days later and both of them were beating away. So good luck and I hope it all goes well for you.

If you are far enough along that there is a heartbeat, I would guess that the other would at least have a fetal pole and yolk sac, in other words, it would not look like an empty sac, there would be something visible there even if not a heartbeat.  I hope I'm wrong.  Good luck!

I had an ultrasound done at 6 weeks and 6 days and all we saw was a yolk sac no baby and no heartbeat. The doctor said it wasn't good news but not bad news either so he scheduled me another ultrasound today a week later. I am now 7 weeks and 5 days and we saw the sac and baby this morning and heard the heartbeat at 161bpm. It was awesome. Hope everything turns out great for you. It is probably a little early still. I guess everyone is different.

UPDATE

after the 8th ultrasound, one sac with baby, and heartbeat!!! the other one never developed, we were kind of sad, but ecstatic about the baby we saw, it was moivng !!!!!!!! good luck everyone!!
