20 week ultrasound scan

Hi all,

Im just looking for a bit of info in prep for my 20 week scan tomorrow?  How does this differ from other ultrasound scans that I have previously had?  Is it a lot more in depth than the reg preg ultrasound??

the only thing i know about your 20 week u/s is that if you havent already, you can find out the baby's sex. (most of the time) with cooperation of your little one!

For your 20 wk scan they look at all the babies organs in detail, kidneys, heart, lungs, diaphram, stomach.... things like that. They also look for down syndrome markers. You can find out the sex if you want. They spend more time looking around at possible abnormalities. They will measure your baby and can tell you what the baby weighs at this point.

Sorry I pressed send without typing a message!! I think being pregnant is making my brain shrink!!!!  Thanks for your comments - Have you both found out the sex of your little ones??  I cant wait to find out the sex - how exciting!!!

The 20 week one is the best, because the doctor takes a good amount of time looking at each part.  You find out the sex too, but I had a really good u/s at 13wks and they were able to tell it was a boy.  Also when I had my 20wk the dr had 3D/4D capability so we got to see our little mans face.  He looks just like his daddy, so it will be interesting to see if he looks the same once he is born.  I am 26wks now.
