20 wk scan and kidnee problem??

20 wk scan and kidnee problem??

My SL just had her 20wk scan where they told her there is some sort of a problem with the babys kidnees?
She is to go back in later on today, to have them re scaned?

Her youngest child, who is just 19months old was born with a cyst on his side, which in time grew bigger than a tenis ball and was removed when he was one. I can't remember the name of it?

Could it be one of these on the babys kidnee? or something else? does anyone have any idea what it could be at 20wks pg?

Thanks

Sometimes they can't see the kidneys well, or see something that is not clear.  They will then bring the mother back in to see if they can sort it out properly in a week or two.

A friend of mine's baby's kidney was measuring about 3mm larger than the other so about 2 weeks later she went to Children's Hospital to have a specialized ultrasound, turns out the kidney is normal. She will have 1 more ultrasound in 8 weeks to make sure the kidney is still normal. Hopefully when your SL goes back in, it'll be nothing.

Thank you,  we just wondered what problems could arise at this stage?

I haven't been on here for a while, isn't it great how the post goes to the top of the page, instead of looking for it.

My baby sis just went through this on her 20 week scan..And it turnd out to be just what peek said there was nonthen wrong with baby thay just did not get a clear look at the kidnes the first time..Good Luck!!

My sis dr also told her that this is not uncommon a lot of people have to go in a second time for a better look...

Thanks ladies, my SL had her re-scan. The doc said that the tube has not yet developed to the babys kidneys yet? everything else looks fine. She goes back at 30wks to see where shes at?

What would this mean? Thanks
