3 misscarriages

3 misscarriages

I am 22 years old and I have had 3 miscarriages.  All of them were at 6 weeks.  The doctor's said that you have to have 4 miscarriages before they will do any tests.  Has anyone has a similar experience?  Is there something wrong with me???

Have you had a d&c each time or miscarried naturally on some of them? I hope your doctor isn't doing a d&c each time at 6 weeks like with this last one.

Also, usually the tests are covered after 3 miscarriages. I have never heard of waiting until after the 4th. I think if it were me I would find myself a new doctor.

I am sorry you have gone through so many miscarriages. I have gone through a few and no how hard it is.

is there anything wrong with D&C? I was going to choose it over medical abortion since I have abnormal pregnancy. I have had 2 D&Cs before, and my doctor has given me Cytotec to induce miscarriage, but I am very scared to take the pills. Please give any advice you may have on this issue.

I actually don't know the exact reason not to have repeat d&cs but what I do know is that when I just gave birth to my last dd, the ob was able to tell that I had a d&c just by feeling my cervix so it obviously is pretty invasive. Sorry it's not the answer you're looking for.

Thanks for your posts. My doctor was also concerned about scar tissue. i am going to make up my mind over this weekend as to what method to choos.

Multiple D&Cs can result in scarring in the uterus, which can cause trouble with future pregnancies implanting and staying in place. And of course there is always the risks directly from the procedure such as perforating the uterus and those related to anasethesia. Although they are generally very safe and a good option for a lot of people, I would be nervous about having it done too many times.  From what I understand, the pills are very safe too. If I were you, I would talk to my doctor again about what you are worried about so he/she can answer any questions you have and help you make the best decision.

I just caution you in using the pills as they didn't work for me and I still had to have a D & C.  It was a VERY long and emotional weekend "waiting" for things to happen and I just could not take it anymore.  It's like a no win situation, having surgeries or taking a drug.  Either way, it is still so difficult.

Has he checked you hormone levels each time? Sometimes it is just a matter of you body not producing enough progesterone, so he can give you that. I am sorry for you loss.

My doctor told me that after 3 m/c insurance companies will cover the necessary tests.  I had 2 m/c and he did the tests anyways for my own assurance.
