3 weeks old and spitting up alot

my daughter is 3 weeks old, she was born 3 weeks early, she was also born with THRUST and she was a c- section, also she had a little atomic fluid on her lungs, but they said it was normal. . When we was at the hostipal she has a few spit up episods, but when she was 3 days days old and we was finally home, she had been eating good and berping really good, no issues...

Then she started to spit up and it came through her nose and it gaged her she could not breathe, and we rushed her to the hostipal and they sucked the formula out of her nose and mouth and took a x-ray of her lungs and she had no fluid on her lungs and they said she was ok and sent us home!!  Well it kept happening and some days are good and some are not, we was told to just keep her nasal thing close to us and when it happens to just clean out her nose and mouth.

Please tell me if any one has had this problem and if so what did you do!!!  I cannot fully sleep at night i am so scared it will happen when i am sleep and i will not wake up in time.  All the doc says is that she is to young to say that she has reflex problems.

any comments will help thanks a bunch

Some babies, particularly babies born a few weeks early, tend to spit up a lot.   It should become better soon.

-Feed her with a nipple that has a slower flow, if possible.
-After feeding, be sure to burp her.
-Then be sure you are not handling her much after feeding...if possible, elevate the head of the crib a few inches so she's not laying flat down.
-Lastly, keep her pediatrician informed if she keeps doing this or you are worried.

Not sure what bottle you are using or if she is breastfed - we switched to Dr Brown's bottles - they are more expensive but our daughter sucked in less air and spit up less when we used them - our pediatrician also changed her formula to Enfamil AR - its thicker and stays in better - like Peek said - elevate her crib if possible - if you go online to One Step Ahead - you can order blocks that fit under the crib legs to securely raise the crib - you can also go inexpensive but just as effective and place a folded up adult blanket underneath her mattress to elevate it slightly - if you have a swing or a bouncy seat - you can place her in that after she eats to keep her in an upright position - just don't turn on the swing or the vibrator on the bouncy - Try not to stress - some babies are just spitters - My daughter slept next to us in a bassinet for three months and I was always scared of not hearing her - but you'll start to find out - you'll wake up over every little single noise - trust your Mommy instincts - good luck - hope things get better soon
