31.3 weeks, slowed baby movement

31.3 weeks, slowed baby movement

A couple of my good friends have told me that their little ones slowed down around 32 weeks so I have kind of been expecting this. But, my little guy is not very active today....at all. I can feel him every once in a while, but they are such little movements. Feels like some of the first movements I ever felt, not like the big giant ones I've been feeling lately. Are any of you other August moms going through this? Is it normal? Thanks!!

Hey!  My baby hasnt slowed down yet.  I didnt know they were suppose to slow down at around 32 weeks....i thought it was closer to the end.   Maybe hes tired today and hes just being lazy.  Sometimes I feel nothing for hours and then its party time all night.  When is your next appt?

I am almost 36 weeks and have not noticed a slow down in movements, but like you I have heard it is very common.  Are you doing kick counts?  My midwife told me to expect at least 10 movements a day.  She told me to count even the slightest wiggle.  A movement doesn't have to be a big kick.  The midwife said as long as the baby is active 10 times a day there is no cause for concern.

I've heard other people that have counted 10 movements in a hour.  I guess that is another way to do it.

I'm sure what you are feeling is completely normal.  Good luck.

I have heard it both ways....that the baby can be expected to slow down and that it's abnormal for him to slow down.

He has moved probably 10 times today. But that's just WAY less than normal for him. Plus, I've been feeling really cruddy the past 2 days. I don't know if the 2 are related or not but it makes me wonder!  My doctor told my friend to count 10 kicks in 2 hours. If 2 hours passes with less than 10 that she should go to labor and delivery for NST. But she was also high risk soooooo.....

Just kind of confused about what's going on! :) Thanks for the replies though!

No-I'm 33 weeks and have not had a slowing in movement at all. He is still very active, only you can tell he is having to struggle more and use more force to push and kick his way around. I feel elbows, knees, heels rolling across my belly. But he does have quieter times every now and then, just like we do. I wouldn't worry if you are still feeling movement. Maybe he's just having a quiet day? Do you do your fetal kick counts? I haven't done them yet, only because I know he is so active still. But maybe that would be a good idea.

I would definitely call your doctor. Better safe then sorry especially after hearing a lot a bad stories recently. Maybe they can get you in to do  a u/s and make sure everything is fine. I know it would make you feel better.

I have noticed in the last couple days that Ayden has slowed way down too.  Almost to the point I was scared yesterday.  I think for the first time Matt (dh) was scared too.

I think its normal but if your nervous call your doctor.  I always get nervous because I can't see him and what if the cord has him all tangled up??

When I was pregnant w/ dd (who was a VERY active baby in the womb), I remember one day toward the end of my pregnancy (probably a few weeks before I gave birth), we were taking a ride on a really bumpy road, and I started panicking because my baby hadn't moved in a looong time. Which really, really freaked me out because, she was normally very active and it was unlike her to not move much. She was still moving, but not as much as normal...I think I was closer to the end though, not 32 weeks...I know that when you are that close to the end, it is typical for them to slow down in movement because it is getting tight in there, however, I wouldn't take any chances...If it really seems that this is not normal movement, then you have every reason to consult your doc, if by phone first or otherwise. I would to be safe...Hope he perks up soon!~bops

I'm 31w1d and my little boy has his moments.  Somedays he moves all the time then other days he'll wait till I lay down and try to sleep.  The other night I laid down at about 10:30pm and he didn't stop moving until about 3am.  I check everyday his heartbeat on the doppler that I rented.  I get very parniod because this will be my first live birth after having 5 miscarriages already.  I haven't had an u/s since I was 23w5d so what I did just to make sure he's growing and moving I paid to have a 3D/4D sonogram done with a private company just to ease my mind.  Everything is fine.  Hope the rest of your pregnancy is fine.  Take care it's almost over.

Thanks for all your replies girls! I appreciate them so much! His movement has picked up since I posted...not like normal...but definately more!! I'm going to drink a big glass of grape juice and lay down for a while and see what he does. They suggest at our L &D that if you drink a tall glass of something ice cold and sweet that you shoudl feel baby 10 times in half hour if laying down. So, we'll see how it works! My luck he's just being a stubborn little thing..like his Daddy! :)

I'm def. feelign the same thing ruby.  I had nearly no movement yesterday and then had some today.  The movement is kinda different though and seems less ... obvious?  Have you been active?  I've been busy taking care of my neice who is 1 year old and I think I'm just moving so much that my baby is taking it easy!
