36.5 weeks and stressed (AND OPEN FORUM)

by karen23, Oct 14, 2004 12:00AM
Hi Everyone - I am looking for a little advice/support.  My mother is very ill and in hospital - she has multiple health problems that have intensified over the past month.  The doctors are not yet sure what is wrong with her, but are looking in to it quickly and well, I think. My problem is I am incredibly close to my mother and I am so stressed about this situation that I am afraid the stress with affect my bp (hasn't yet) or my baby.  I have a lot of things to deal with right now, and for some reason, I am not able to cope as well as I usually would.  I have a two and a half year old and my husband isn't really acting that supportively toward me.  I feel like everything is happening at once and I am not even sure if my mother will survive this illness.  I don't know if I can deal with this - but I think for the sake of my two children I have to!!!  If anyone has any advice or has had a similar experience, I would appreciate hearing.  Thanks and I hope everyone else is ok.

I will keep your mom in my prayers, and you also that you will start to relax a little. Congratulations on finding out that you are having a little girl, Do you have any names picked out at all? Also glad to hear that you and your little one are both healthy, not much longer now before you get to hold your little one in your arms. Please keep us posted on how your mom is doing.

Karen,
I'm sorry you are going through all this right now.  Let others do as much for you as they can, and let some things slide in order to be there for your mom.  There is no way I or anyone else can tell you not to stress, but concentrate on one thing at a time right now, being sure to get some rest and take care of yourself, too.
I'm wishing you all the best, and my prayers are for your mom and your whole family.

(((Hugs)))
Wish I could do more.

Thanks for your comments.  I just got back from a biophysical profile, which made me feel a little better.  The baby scored perfectly on all four items - fluid, breathing, tone, and one more, can't remember.  The baby is also over 6lbs, which is ok I guess.  I had a big one the first time, so they aren't worried.  The tech. printed out a great picture of the face for my mom and I also found out the sex - IT'S A GIRL!!!  We had decided not to find out, but given my mom's situation, I thought I'd find out for her.  Thanks again for your support.

Thanks for your comments, CMN & Dawna.  I am excited to have another girl!  I had an especially stressful day today since my mother isn't doing as well.  I appreciate all your prayers & support.
