3rd Miscarriage this year due to...?

Hello everyone, Happy Halloween. For those of you that replied to my post a while back & to anyone who would care to reply to give me some advice: I am having my 3rd miscarriage this year. They all have pretty much followed the same pattern. Start w/ spotting for a week, goes away for a week, start bleeding heavily, then passing blood clots, then slowly waiting for the HB to disappear. They all have stopped at week 8 or after. I have heard and seen the beautiful strong little HB until that point & cannot understand why this keeps happening. I have been tested for the APA panel, thyroid, clotting disorders, autoimmune, etc and nothing comes back positive. I know it's not the luteral defect b/c my progesterone starts out high and thens starts to decline after bleeding due to the impending m/c. My partner has epilepsy and takes Dilantin. I've heard that it can effect the quality of sperm, but I've also heard of men who take this having lots of healthy children. I am just a complete mess and feel so weak & depressed right now. I don't want to be one of those women who have 6 or 7 m/c's until they have a full term pregnancy; I just don't think I have it in me.. this has taken quite a big toll on me. I don't understand why the fetus develops fine & I always have a strong HB then disappers. I had a D&C last time and am unsure if I should have another this time? I don't want to scar myself. Right now I am waiting to see what happens. I have had bad cramps and lots of weird discharge & small black/grey clots. I think some of it is my lining coming out? Please, send some advice..

Has your dr. every put you on progestrone to see if that would help keep your levels up to help prevent bleeding, a friend of mine to progestrone until she was 12 weeks to prevent m/c. Just a thought.

I have taken progesterone the last 2 times and it doesn't help me.. I don't think it's horemone prob. The bleeding and drop in prog is the sign of an impending miscarriage.

Hi, I'm really sorry you have to go through this. I had all the testing done also after 2 m/c in 6 months, nothing wrong. My heart goes out to you. They say it can just be bad luck. Don't give up!!!!! It will happen for you.

I am so sorry for your loss again. I know how depressed and empty you are feeling. I had three miscarriages back to back and then my fourth pregnancy was a successful one! I noticed someone had mentioned the progesterone to you but you had said your levels were always good. That was what I tried the fourth time I don't think it was just progesterone because my doctor said the shot was the HCG Hormone which consists of several hormones...Anyway they gave me the shot twice a week 200mg until my 11 week of pregnancy. I miscarried at different weeks all under 12 weeks though and they said the fetus was the size of 6 weeks everytime. Try to hang in there and don't give up....It's a good sign that you can get pregnancy to begin with - the doctors are going to need to run some more tests it will happen.

I am on my 4th pg this year!  I had three miscarriage May-June-Aug.  All 4-6 weeks.  I am now 9 weeks 1 day and doing good (so far).  The drs thought it could have merely been bad luck, so keep trying.  I take the progesterone, just b/c the dr said it couldn't harm the pg.  My ACA (autoimmune) came back slightly positive so I am also on heparin shots and baby aspirin.  However, the dr was not convinced that the m/c were due to the ACA issue.  It is possible to just have bad luck.  Are you working with a fertility specialist and/or a high risk ob/gyn?  I have both and have found it very helpful.  Good luck to you, don't despair.  Sometimes it just takes longer for some of us.  Jenni

Thank you for the support... I am seeing a high risk Dr who is very good. I went to the Dr today and heard the heartbeat? I was for sure I wouldn't. It was 171. The baby measured at 10 weeks and I am supposed to be 10 weeks, 2 dys, but the Dr said it was ok. I still feel I will m/c... last time the baby lived 3 weeks after I started bleeding and clotting. I don't understand why it's such a slow process with me? Maybe there still is hope, but I feel in my heart I will m/c... how can I have so much blood, discharge, clots, cramps, and still have a good pregnancy? I am really confused.

I have had 3 m/c this year, with one of them being twins. All of my tests also came back normal and my Dr. also said it was probably bad luck. I am scared to try again. I have a healthy 2 year old so I don't understand why it won't happen this time.

I can so relate to all of you too. I just had my 3rd miscarriage today.  It really stinks. I have two healthy boys...7&4 and just want one more.  Suddenly it has been a nightmare.  I had tests done after m/c #2 and found that I need to take progesterone.  Well, with this 3rd  I did take it exactly like I needed to along with a baby asperin daily.  I started bleeding yesterday and passed the tissue today. I went to the doc and they did an ultrasound and said I had miscarried. Nothing but try again the doc said.  I just am getting so depressed about it and am now 34 so age is now on my bad side.

I understand about age, im 32 and my fiance has no kids and wants 2, possible 3.  I have a 12yr old boy who will be 13 next month.  I had one missed m/c june 12th and dnc on june 17th.  Doc said chromosonal abnormalties but no test were done.  She said if occurs second time to get testing done.  But now my fiance wants to wait 8-12 months.  He is only 30 but i will be pushing 33 next year.  This is depressing, im sorry for everyones loss, i will keep you all in my prayers.
