3year old daughters poop

my three year old daughter goes for number 2 which is milky in colour and soft and sometimes if not most it appears to have fresh red blood in. is this normal i wonder? her diet is not the best as it could be could this be the problem?

I have never heard of milky colored poo...but maybe I don't get out enough.  The fresh blood is not "normal," but if it is not too much is likely caused by hemorrhoids.  Is she constipated?  Does she strain when she goes to the bathroom?

I would call her ped -- they can test the stool sample -- could be allergies, constipation or completely normal for her.

I would certainly try to improve her diet -- if you can't cut out all of the bad, start by at least adding some more good -- fruits and veggies.  If she balks at that, check the book store -- there are plenty of cookbooks for picky eaters that sneak fruits/veggies into "fun" food.

If by milky you mean clay colored I have seen this before it is not normal neither is bloody stool. She needs to go to her doctor.

Pale or milky coloured bowel movements can be caused by iron defficiency, blood tests would soon find out if this is the problem or not, otherwise it could just be diet based.  Blood in the stool is not normal, it could be hemorroids (hemorrhoids) from straining as another poster suggested but it is wise to get both things checked out by your childs doctor
