4 month old baby what do you think?

by Country2127, Jul 29, 2007 03:04PM
HI, I have a baby that will be 4 months on 7/30. The doctor  has said she was born that she ad advanced muscle tone. However she isn't rolling over yet. She rolls to her side but that is it. She hated being on her stomach she will tolerate it for like 3 minutes then starts screaming. She is almost sitting up on her own though. She loves to stand. I am just wondering if I should be concerned? Please share your storines on at what age your baby was doing what. Thanks!

My first son didn't sit up till he was about 6 months and he was a very gassy baby.  He hated being on his stomach and like your daughter would scream after a few minutes.  My youngest son started sitting up at 6 months and rolling over at 4 months and he is now 7 months and trying to crawl.  I wouldn't be concerned. My oldest son took a little bit longer to do everything but now he is 18 months and into everything.  I wouldn't worry.  She sounds just like my oldest son.  Both my boys get very frustrated when they can't complete the tasks they start (Sitting, crawling, walking, etc.)  but once they do it they are much more happy

There is a great book by the Your Pregnancy Week by Week people, called something like Your Baby's First Year Week by Week.  Babies who are sleeping on their backs (for the preventing-SIDS value) sometimes come in a few weeks later on some upper-body milestones, but in any case it is generally accurate and you would really like it!  It answers so many of that kind of question.  What your daughter is doing sounds exactly normal.  My son was also born with great muscle strength, and would roll front to back really young, but then he stopped doing it and only has really begun rolling (and he does it really well now) at somewhere between 6 and 7 months.  Now he does it front to back, back to front and twirling on his fat tummy, but before, not much. Give her some tummy time on your lap, or on the couch with you on the floor talking to her, it's easier than just on the big old floor.  Have fun!
