4 month old really bad diharea/how many ounces a day should a 4 month drink

its been about 5 days now that my ds has had diharea..he has a little fever also..his temp is usually at 96-97 and lately has been varying 99-100..he had a little cold well his nose was runny and that seems to have almost cleared..but now he is having diharea alot and its all watery what do i do? he has no problem drinking..which brings me to my next question...he drinks 4 bottles in a day...8am,12pm 4pm and 8pm all 5 ounces and sometimes at 3-5am but he will often go his whole nights...he is drinking 20-25 ounces a day is that good?

also he is teething but my god...in all the times he has been teething this just started about a week ago now...

They always pick the worst time to get teeth!  Cam got his when he had a double ear infection and bronchitits, his reflux was also really bad, then they popped up too.  He's been sick awhile, call your Dr., you don't want him dehydrated.  As for eating, mine were always little hogs, ate every couple hours still at that age, and closer to 8 oz., but they are all different.  If he's content, then I'm sure he's getting enough.

well we brough cameron in..he is fine...the fever is most likely from the teething however the diharea is from a stomache flu/virus going around which will be one of many..the doc said if he gets up to 39 to bring him in again-which right now hes at 37.6-7. they told me if it still continues to offer a little pedialyte but he doesnt look dehydrated and he told me signs to look for that which was good..im happy we went but feel like a fool but better to be safe..i worry too much now being a mom

CYW,  don't feel like a fool for taking him in to the clinic.  Babies dehydrate in the blink of an eye.

Good that they told you the symptoms of dehydration to look for - that's really helpful.

One of my kids would have died,  had this been 100 years ago or a 3rd world country - from a simple roto virus.  He dehydrated and could NOT get on top of things - thank God for IV hydration!!

You did the right thing taking him in.

I have a four month old too, and although he is mostly breastfed, I do give him some formula. I got this chart with some of my formula that tells how many ounces should be consumed at each age, and it says for a 3-4 month old, they should be consuming 24-35 ounces a day. And for a 4-7 month old, 28-40 ounces a day.
So theres one source of info on that. I think though, if your baby seems happy and content then he's getting enough. If he was hungry, he'd cry. This chart just says "Average Infant Feeding Guidelines" so I am sure it can vary a little. Hope he feels better soon!:)
