5 Weeks and Spotting-Need Hope

by momof32b, Nov 27, 2007 08:12AM
Here we go again..or at least it seems that way.  I'm 5w1d and woke up this morning and was spotting light pink.  I've had 2 m/c before this pregnancy and am so scared that it's happening again.  I'm on 100mg prometrium and am just praying it's coming from that but deep down in my heart I think I know the answer.  Does anybody have any hope they can give me?  I have read several posts in the past of women who spot but then have a healthy pregnancy.  I'm waiting on the dr to call and will be on pins and needles until I know something.

Awww, try to relax and breath.  I know it is a lot harder than that, but the best thing you can do now is relax and try not to stress out. There are TONS of people who spot during early pregnancy and everything is just fine with baby. I spotted with my DD and now she is a healthy and happy 2 year old just to give you an example. Has your doc been checking your HcG levels? An ultrasound would probably freak you out even more since you are so early...you probably wouldnt see anything just yet. All I can tell you is to wait it out and I will be praying for you and your family. Good luck and keep us posted.

I am the hope you need.  I spotted throughout the first 6 months of pregnancy but at around 5 weeks through 10 weeks it was the worst.  All different colors.  At least twice a week I was going into the doctor - they would check my cervex.  They kept testing my progesterone (spell) to see if I may need injections but I never did it was always fine.  They could not give me an answer to the spotting.  I prayed and prayed because I too had a previous m/c and knew deep down this was not good.  My little girl is almost 7 months old now.  The spotting continued for a while so lets hope you are just having one of those pregnancies.

Good luck to you and congrats on your baby

Thanks so much you guys.  My dr didn't offer to test my HCG levels this time but she probably will want to now that I'm having problems.  I just don't get it!  I have 2 healthy kids (10 & 6) and then 2 m/c's in a row and now possibly a 3rd?  My DH and I had already decided that this was the last time we were going to try.  I hope you guys are right and this spotting is nothing.  You both certainly given me hope to hang in there and try to be positive....thanks for that.

Another note - I forgot about the HCG testing I had that done as well - it kept rising but boy did I bite my nails off waiting for the doctor calls.  Also like Kierstensmommy said the U/S will freak you out.  I had one at 5 weeks and nothing was there.  But just a couple weeks after that BOOM there was baby.

Good Luck

Yep-I am hope for you too. I bled for the first 5 months of my pregnancy. I am currently 37 weeks pregnant with a little girl. Hang in there and try to relax. Everything will work out for you.

I bled from 5 weeks to 10 weeks all different colors.  I kept calling the doctor and all she could say was it could be normal and it could be bad.  i had my hcg checked and it was normal the first time but two days later it only rose 20% instead of double.  I was told I was having a miscarriage.  I waited until week 7 to get a u/s because the doc said that I would worry more because you cant see a heartbeat until week 7.  when i went for the u/s there was a heartbeat and now i have a healthy 3 month old little boy.  good luck!

See!  This is what I need to hear!  My dr office just called and they don't seem too concerned.  She said it could be completely normal and that not all bleeding means a m/c.  So no bloodwork or anything until my appt Dec 12th.  I'm going to be a nervous wreck until then.  I'm just praying this baby sticks.

Dec 12th!!!!!!!!  I am a nervous wreck for you-  I kept reading all of your posts on the TTW post waiting for someone to get a BFP...  I was so happy for you!!!!  I still am so happy for you,  but I want them to do blood work on you now!!!  :)  I remember what a mess I was!  I am sure it is all just fine...  my BFF had spotting her whole frist trimester and her son just turned 3!  Hang in there!

I know!  The 12th?  I'm ready to know something NOW!!  Thanks for keep up w/ my progress.  I stopped spotting yesterday but it was there again this morning so I don't know what to think.  I'm trying so hard to stay positive but after 2 m/c it's hard, so at this point I'm guarded.  I'm still temping and my temp is still up, still have sore bb's and the nausea was pretty strong this morning.  I'll let you know as soon as I know something or if something changes...just keep me in your prayers.

I was sick - throwing up - for 6 months along with my pregnancy spotting/bleeding.  They say the nausea is a good sign so that should make you feel better too.

Personally, I feel the 12th is too long for your doctor to make you wait.  I know there is nothing they can do to stop something bad but there is something they can do for YOU.  That is give you piece of mind.  Call them and tell them you would like your HCG levels and cervex checked.  That will make you feel so much better and seeing the spotting will be a little easier.  I am not sure where you live?  I know insurance and state issues give women problems but it was automatic to have my HCG levels checked because I had a previous m/c.  The spotting is what made them check my cervex.

I was in your shoes but I never had to ask they always took me right in.

It is a good sign that you still have all of your symptoms!!  With my miscarriage back in Feburary I lost all of my symptoms a day or two before I started to spot!!  So I would hang in there... that is a really really good sign!

I agree, I think you should call them back and insist that they at least do your Hcg tests...

I have my next apt on the 12th too...  I will have an ultrasound done that day,  so I can't wait for it to get here either,  but I know you are more anxious!!  You are in my prayers.

Even if your doctor did do blood work or could tell you something, the relief only lasts a few hours.  I remember getting good news at noon and by the time I went to bed I was terrified that something had happed in the meantime.  My spotting did the same thing. It would be off and on.  I would get all excited that it was gone and it would be back the next day.  I do remember freaking out really bad because all of the sudden it got really dark brown almost red.  It was the day of my doctors appointment.  I walked in crying and the doctor kind of laughed and said that the change to dark meant that i was about to stop spotting and sure enough that was the last day that I spotted.

Thanks you guys.  As of right now, I'm only spotting in the morning and then nothing all day.  Still very light pink.  I have thought about calling the dr back and insisting on bloodwork but I'm almost too terrified to know the results.  I think I'm just going to try and live in "ignorant bliss" for now and call only if it gets heavier....I say that now but who knows how I'm going to feel tomorrow.  This is making me crazy!

Tatorbug-how far along are you?

i start spotting when i was 8 wks,  after i lost my 3 babies, i was bleeding really bad plus the cramping.my but god never left me my baby she is 3 months old.  god bless u

by momofour, Nov 29, 2007 10:37AM
This will just be a waiting game, since you still early enough.  I am sure that you are scared though and don't blame you.  Just keep taking one day at a time, because that is all you can do along with prayer, and remind yourself that some spotting is very normal and common early on in the first trimester.  I would only start to worry if you began heavy bleeding and bad cramping.  Take care and good luck...

Thanks you guys.  Just an update.  I didn't spot at all yesterday but today it was back.  I've had some pretty severe nausea, so I'm taking that as a good sign.  Hope to give a very happy update at my appt. next week.

how many weeks are you? I am around 6 or 7 (not sure yet) and I spotted last week for 3 days twice each. I went to take a blood test and everything came out find. My doctor said the numbers were high and if I have symptoms then that is a very good sign. She also said that if I continued spotting then I need to go back for ultrasound but as of last thursday, I have not spotted anymore. So, hang on. I too have my appt. for Dec. 12.
