5 month old baby hit his head x

My 5 month old son hit his head on a door frame on saturday while i was holding him (he pushed himself back really fast).. I took him to the hospital because he was basically unconscious and they discharged him within half an hour.. 2 days on he is still really tired and sleeping a lot and had a big lump on his head.. Do you think hes okay or should i take him to the doctors/ hospital?

i think baby is probably fine... they sleep alot anyway, and if the hospital released him they must not have been to worried.

i personally am always worried about things so i would probably go back in just to ease my own mind... good luck hope all is well.

thanks, they weren't supposed to discharge him that quickly i had a phonecall from the hospital later on that night saying he should have been in longer!!
But thank you, he doesn't sleep that much usually but today slept for 3 hours straight which isnt like him.. But i might take him to the doctors tomorrow x

Amzxx,  I think you should take him back to the doc tomorrow,  as you suggested.  A baby with a concussion needs a little closer look than he got at the hospital.  There are things you should watch for in a healing concussion,  and it may be that they will want to put him in a little helmet for awhile to keep him from reinjuring his head.

At any rate,  he needs to not bang his head again until he's completely healed, and that's HARD for a baby his age,  who will be trying to sit up/roll around,  etc.  and will be toppling over.

Best wishes.

Thank you for your reply, i will try to take him to the doctors tomorrow.. He is wide awake now which is normal but he just has been sleeping a lot more than normal and is a lot more whingey than normal too. Yeah he does keep rolling around and laying on his head! But thank you :)
