the pain has stopped but ive also stopped feeling sick too breast still sore can anyone offer some helpful words or stories.
i dont know if all this is normal or not i dont know how much this is meant to hurt or not i use to get really bad period pains anyway but i dont know what im meant to being feeling right now.

Fifth-week ultrasounds are simply not reliable.  They should have told you that ,straight out and first thing, before even lying you on the table.  If you ovulated a few days late in your cycle compared to the "average," your embryo will be a little later than average, and if it is akin to being a 4 week 6 day or 5 week or 5 week 1 day embryo, you really won't see anything.  (My doctor will not do ultrasounds until the 7th week for this reason, he says it just scares the mother and makes things crazy.)  Your doctor should have done an hCG blood test, followed by another in 48 hours, to be sure your hCG levels are rising appropriately.  That would tell you what you need to know about the pregnancy, where an ultrasound is iffy.

thank you for your reply so you think the pains are nothing to worry about?

I had an early u/s as well, about 5 weeks.  There was nothing but a sack.  I knew we wouldn't be able to see anything yet, but I was also having cramping and the Dr. wanted to rule out ectopic even though I have no history.
I told them I am happy waiting for the 9 week viability u/s I already had scheduled.  At that point I will know the story, whether this pregnancy is successful or not.  I have had 2 m/c so they are monitoring me a little closer.

As for the cramping, I have had period like pains in all of my pregnancies.  The difference with my failed pregnancies was that over time the cramping got more painful and intense.  Your uterus is beginning to stretch to accommodate the pregnancy for the next 9 months. It is a good thing that you have no bleeding or spotting with the cramps.  I don't know if in the scheme of things it makes a difference with the intensity we feel them, but I have always had very painful crampy periods as well, so I am not surprised I have pretty uncomfortable cramps now.

Good luck next week, hope everything is perfect!
