50 mg clomid enough? helpppppppppppppppp

hi i m ttc for last 19 months this month doc gave me 50 mg clomid ... to take on 2 till 6th day of periods .. n he asked me if it does'nt work go to ur GP he will suggest u what to do .. but i m very confused b/c the packet of clomid i buy it has 3 months dose .. is it ok to take 150mg clomid   3 months? or if it doesnt work this month will doc change it to 100 mg ? ..
i mean what do u gals suggest whats the procedure to take clomid for firts timers? is it like 50mg 1 month 100mg second and 150 mg third month ?? i m really veryy confusseddd plzz help me ..

Different doctors order it different ways for different situations.

While people may tell you how THEY take it, do not use this as a way to determine what YOU should be taking.  If you are concerned or do not understand how much clomid to take, call your doctor to ask.

I agree with Who_Dis. I was told 50g for 3 months, 4 month take nothing.  If not pg then go onto 100g for 3 months 4 month nothing. If not pg then 150g for 3 months again 4 month rest.  Remember that Clomid stays in your system. So even though you are still taking 50g in month 2 there is already some in your system. Good luck.

My Doctor prescribed 50 mg the first month, then when nothing happened 100 mg the next two months.  But you have to be careful because this drug can overstiumulate your ovaries and cause damage.  
Your doctor should know what is best for you because he knows your history and what may be causing the problem. You should listen to him.  the only thing I do not understand is why he would ask you to go to your GP for additional guidance.  I would think he was more qualified to make that analysis...

dear lea actually i live in uk n my next appoint with my fertility specialist is after 3 months.this is my 1st month on clomid infact today is the first day i took it firts time in my life :). i think next appoint is to far thats y specialist ask me to visit gp if this cycle is unsucessful so he can give me more dose i m also very confussed .. i ll definitely do what my doctor ask me to do  b/c he knows better.

I agree with who_dis. I was instructed to take 50mg (days 2-6) for the first month, then to take 100mg (days 2-6) the second month if I didn't get pregnant. I didn't take 100mg the second month, I only took 50mg because I knew that I ovulated on 50mg and didn't want to take the chance of overstimulation. I then had another 50mg left over so I took it again the third month and that is the month that I got pregnant. I am currently 23 weeks 4 days.

Your dr will instruct you on how to take it. If he didn't mention how much to take the second month should the first month not work, I would call/make an appointment and ask.

I took 100mgs of Clomid for the first 2 cycles (cycle days 2 thru 6) and in the 3rd cycle I took 150 mgs and I got pregnant that cycle.  Thank God I had no problems with overstimulation.  I did regular ultrasounds to ensure things were fine.

OK... things just must be a little different over there, but it's ok.   So you got 3 months supply of the clomid... which is about 15 bills each of 50 mg.   If it doesn't work the first cycle, then the GP may tell you double up for the second cycle to increase the dosage to 100mg.  Then wait and see.

Don't be concerned about taking the drug.  I was a little apprehensive at first, too.  But when I took it in the morning, it made me very happy all day. :-).  Nothing bothered me... not crazy clients, co- workers, collegues, partners... nothing.  I just smiled and took everything in stride-- and I got alot of work done because I had alot of energy.  My co- workers were loving life when I was on this drug.   I hope it makes you very happy, too!  I know it will make you very happy if it does it's job and you end up with a successful pregnancy!  Best of Luck!
