by jd1419, Jan 06, 2007 12:00AM
Did you get any answers yesterday on why they wanted you in for bloodwork stat.  I hope it was soemthing simple as they forgot to do them when you where there or there was a mix up of some sorts.  Please let us know.

well I did the results back and realy don't know what to make of them.  hcg was  10540.  which at first I thought was great.  if they should double they should of been over 12800..  when do they stop doubling??? I have another ultrasound next friday which at this point seems like forever..  my levels are within the time of my pregnancy which as of today they are dating 5 w 6 days..  according to the ultrasound.  I'm trying to be optimistic but with two losses this year.. I'm having doubts..

heres my other question:  since I am on the progesterone if the pregnancy was in trouble would I spot or anything??  I'm thinking not...  I'm not holding much hope..  The baby measured right on to what I figured out..  I don't know...

sorry it took me so long to get back to you my son had a basketball game and I was really tired after it..

i just wanted to let you know that just b/c your levels didn't double doesn't really mean anything and i think at 5 wk 6 days what they saw on  the ultra sound was good. i was 6 wk 1 days and all they saw was the empty yolk and gestational sac and my levels didn't even come close to doubling and we didn't actually see the baby till i was about 8 wks my numbers never doubled during that time frame so we thought the worse i am now 36 wks pregnant. don't give up hope i almost did and almost had a d&c and i am so glad i didn't.

I heard that once you reach into the thousands that your numbers don't necessarily double, they just increase.

I went to this website and typed in my numbers and it gave me a doubling time of 2.14 days .  Then I was worried about not seeing the hb with hcg over 6000 well I looked at my last ultrasound with my last pregnancy and it was 9025 and no hb or yolk sac was seen.  so I'm not going to worry but relish in the fact next friday I will see my little bean with a hb hopefully...

Try to stay positive.  I was told I was miscarrying.  Two transvaginal ultrasounds showed an empty gestational sac and nothing else.  My hcg numbers didn't double--they went from 71,000 to 98,000.  I did not miscarry.  I later found out that even though they didn't double, they were still high enough to be in the normal range (which can vary quite a bit from what I've read) so the fact that they didn't double didn't really matter.

I will be thinking about you and sending positive vibes your way!

Yeah, I was also told that HCG doesn't necessarily double after 9000.  I'm sure everything is great and I'm keeping fingers and toes crossed for you!!!

Man I am so glad I found all of you here! Last night I was panicking because I was having a similar situation to 5preg2b's! I had some pain yesterday morning (which is now gone) and went to the doc. I had an u/s which showed both the gestational and yolk sacs, but she said it was too early too see a heartbeat with the transvaginal u/s.  I was 6 weeks yesterday and was so upset. Then the doc's office wanted me to get bloodwork done to compare levels between Weds (my 1st appt) and yesterday. Well after 3 hours of waiting, I came home not knowing anything. Then nurse called and said that the level went up but not as much as they'd have liked. So I go back on Monday for another check! Talk about the longest weekend ever!

what was your level??

by rubyolivia, Jan 06, 2007 12:00AM
Good question! I was so flustered and I knew my nurse was in a hurry (she was calling on her way out the door) so I didn't even think to ask! Dumb...I know!
