6 months w/o period? Anyone been on depo?

6 months w/o period? Anyone been on depo?

Hello, to everyone reading this. I have taken two depo shots that where not back to back and my last one has wore off. This may sound like tmi but I was wondering if anyone has went through this. I have had discharge for the past 4 days, I was wondering if my period was close. My husband and I are ttc.

Boy this can be frustrating. I was on depo for eight years and still no af. Last shot was in August 2006. I have signed up at www.dealingwithdepo.com. I think you may find some things interesting. The moderator has been trying to concieve (conceive) for almost 2 years. 85% of women are able to concieve (conceive) within 18 months of their last depo shot. Just cause it has been 6 months since your last shot does not necessarily mean it is out of your system, hence the lack of period. There are some great article about supplements that may help but only time can really do the trick. I understand that not even fertility methods are helping.

Be sure to check out the journals there. A few of us have kept up with what has been going on in our bodies.

I was on Depo for one year.  It took me about 6 months to get my period once I stopped taking the shots.  I have been ttc for almost 2 years and so far, no luck.  I've been on fertility meds for 4 months now.  Good luck to you!

I was on depo for 5 1/2 years, my last shot was january 9th of 2006, 6 months later I still didn't have a period, they had to give me provera (hormone pill) to jump start things, and then birth control pills for 2 months to regulate my cycle. Even though you were on it for a short period of time it can really screw up your system. I was having all kinds of pregnancy symptoms, and even my doctor thought I was pregnant every month coming in with the symptoms but I wasn't. I wasn't even  ovulating. It can take 12-18 months for your body to get back to normal.

I was on the depo shot for 8 years and I didn't get my first normal AF till about a year and half later. It took 4 years to actually get pregnant. It takes some time! I am now preggers with my 2nd baby.
Good Luck!

hi i was on the depo for 3 1/2 years.  And im 20 now.  I guess it was the only thing that persuaded my mom i wouldn't get pregnant early!  And it worked in fact it through my hormones all out of wack so much i couldnt get pregnant.  I am married and my husband and i had been trying to get pregnant for the past year.  I finally conceived in sept ??! dont know exactly when because my periods were not always normal but i miscarried on nov 4th at about 7 weeks and my last period was aug 7.  crazy huh!  Anyways my last shot was sometime in 2005.  it took about a month and a half for my period to return but the problem was i couldnt get pregnant!  Sometimes i wonder if i would have never gotten on that shot  would i have already had a healthy baby.  Hang in there though!! good luck to you.
