Spotting during early pregnancy is very common.  Brown spotting means its old blood...not fresh, active bleeding.

Sometimes its nothing at all, and sometimes it may be more concerning.  You did the right thing by letting your doctor know.  He/she may have you come in to have some HCG levels checked, they may advise resting...or they may advise you to just watch it to see if it gets worse.

Any of those scenarios are proper advice.  There is no real evidence to show that resting in bed in response to early pregnancy bleeding helps at all, but its comforting for women to feel they did all they could.  If you have a healthy pregnancy, being up and active won't do anything to harm it.

I hope everything goes well.  Let us know.

Obviously what peek just said plus I had it and not only did I have the brown I had bright red and dark red which is bad.  This was during my last pregnancy and mainly happened between 6-12 weeks.  My doctor always had me come in - first for the HCG which was always fine but then to check my cervex to be sure it was closed and once the baby had her hb he would even send me for the u/s to see for myself the baby was fine.  I literally had over 20 u/s my first trimester it was a horrible time for me between the bleeding and some other issues I had.  My daughter is now 18 months old and my current pregnancy (THANK GOD) has none of these complications.  I too had a m/c I know how scary the bleeding is.  Try to stay calm and keep your doctor informed.

Don't freak out, Anya.  I know you are very worried, but please be calm.  Pregnancy can have some frightening moments.

Let us know what you find out.  Good luck!

Im praying for my baby, and resting home today..I hope it is all normal!

just saw your update - did they do an internal exam?  They can tell by your cervex.  I am sure if they thought something might be wrong they would have done an u/s right away.  I used to have bright red blood so maybe that is why they did so many on me.  Like Peek said brown blood is old - they always told me not to worry about that.  One day I even passed clots - I thought for sure that was the end and boom there was a hb again.  It is so scary being pregnant esp after a m/c.  I know your stress just try to relax.  When you get further along - 10 weeks if you are still a worry wart like me or if you are still spotting like I did you can rent a doppler - that will help you - it saved me.

No, they didn't do any type of testing on me, my brown spotting is very light, thank GOD..I just read different posts, some ended up in m/c, and some were fine...I still have light cramping going on, and nurse said, " oh it must be uterous streching.."...well yeah, I know that but how hard is it to see the bean to put my mind at ease??!!!! It took me 3 years to conceive! anyay, I hope everything is ok with my little one and next Tue I get to see the heartbeat and everything fine......
Thanks again, and write a personal message if anything :)
THANKS!!!  did you have brown as well? did it go away?
I also don't have nausia or sore breasts today..

I did have brown too I had it all and you symptoms will come back - to be blunt I believe if you were having a m/c the brown would be turning red and getting heavier.  The fact that is is slowing down and staying brown is a very good sign.  m/c just dont stop they continue on to progress.  Even if it started as brown it would keep getting worse.

Keep you chin up and keep praying I am praying for you.
