6wks and 2days to soon for heartbeat?

I went to the doctors today and im 6 weeks and 2 days. We saw a fetus and the pole but no heartbeat and the baby wasnt moving around. Is it still too early to see a heartbeat and the baby moving around? He wants me to come back in Monday the 18th to see if we can see a heartbeat yet and see if the baby is moving around. By then i will be 7 wees and 2 days pregnant and he said if there is no heartbeat he wants to do a DNC... what should i do?! Im so confused. Any sugguestions would be great! :D thank you!

at 6 wks it could very well be too early.  Baby heart is just finishing forming.  If your ovulation date was even a day or two later than you thought it could make all the difference.  Try to stay positive, there is still hope, wait and see waht it says on the 18th

My doctor wanted to do a DNC today but i wouldnt let him.. I think he is jumping the gun on this. Im thinking about going to another doctor after the 18th. I know some people dont see the heartbeat till up to 12 weeks. Ive seen a lot of improvment since Jan 4th.. there is a fetus, pole and im not bleeding inside anymore.. im trying to stay stress free but my mom on the other hand isnt helping, but i know shes just worried about me and the baby.

I think it's always best to go with your gut and I'm glad you didn't listen to your doc about the d & c.  Some docs just make assumptions and don't allow for any variances in dates or even the particular woman and pregnancy.  Wait and see what it shows on the 18th and if you still aren't satisfied try another doc.

I am very much in the same situation.  I was 6w3d pregnant, everything looked fine except that there was no heartbeat.  Also like you I am willing to guess you have Googled and searched and you are getting all kinds of mixed opinions as to what should be happening.  I am scared, my Dr. said wait for it to pass or DNC.  He gave me no hope that this could be viable.  My HCG is going up, and @ 6w3d I actually measured 6w5d.  I will go back on Thursday to see if there has been anymore growth.  I have seen women that say they saw a heartbeat at 4.5 weeks and others who say they saw nothing until 9 and some even later.  I can't promise I will remember how to get back to this thread.  I don't usually do this but I will give you my email, please write something in the subject line so it doesn't go to spam.  I think it may help to be able to lean on someone going through the exact same thing.

I didn't see my baby until I was 7 weeks.  When I was 5 all they saw was the sac.  I wishing you the best for the 18th.  I know it is painful and depressing waiting.  Please keep me posted.

I also saw my sac at 5 weeks. saw the baby at 6 weeks so im hoping at 7 weeks we'll see the heartbeat. :)

Thank you!! me too! I was just thinking to much self that i really hope i see the heartbeat Monday. I am trying a different doctor the 29th. Im not giving up on this baby! :)

I'm also going through somthing similar...I went to the hospital w/ pelvic pain at 5 weeks, my hcg was only 89 and couldn't see the sac on US.  The doc said too low, and this was a failed preg.  I went back 2 days later for another US and blood, and my hcg was 280...so great! and they saw a sac on the US. They told me there was hope.

I went back again friday the 16th, and the US said the sac hadn't grown in 5 days, and they couldn't see the fetal pole, only the sac and yolk. But my hcg is now 8800! They told me that the baby was a failed preg. and I have to wait for it to "go". I don't feel it IS failed...I know inside it is fine! I have no spotting, no cramps, nothing.  It's nice to see that I am not the only one who cannot see their baby or a heartbeat yet.  The only thing that worries me is that the sac hasn't grown in 5 days. I'm hoping it is because I have a tilted uterus and it's just hard to see.  That is what the US tech. told me.

I would not do a DNC unless medically necessary.  First, there are thousands of stories from women whose docs told them no baby and it "appeared"
Second, dates could be off.  Third, a DNC is not good for your body - nature is by far best

Good luck! I didn't see my baby's heartbeat until 7w6d. Also, if you're spotting it could be a subchoronic bleed that's what my doc told me during my last visit.
