7 weeks and counting

by busymomof1, Nov 03, 2009 09:13AM
Its been 7 weeks since Ive had my daughter and still no cycle. I cant use bc till I get it...My fiance and I have been using condoms for the most part but occasionally we have gotten carried away and started without them (then realized we forgot) Should I worry about being pregnant...AGAIN or is it normal to go this long without one while my boy regulates itself again. Ill get slight twinges near my ovaries (before this used to mean within a week I would be getting that pesky thing) Now Im starting to stress. My daughter is only going to be 2mths old. I really really dont need another baby right now. Can anyone offer any insight? This is my first baby and anyone I ask just gives me a smart *** answer. (Not exactly what I need right now) At this point Im giving it one more week then off to the drug store I go for yet another pregnancy test.

It's normal to not get your period for a while. I didn't get mine until my son was 3 months old.  Are you breastfeeding?  If you are you may not get your period until you stop.

This is perfectly normal, usually a women won't get her period for a while after having a child, however, if it goes past three months I would pay attention to your mood, your body, notice any abnormalities. Headaches, possibly light spotting, other things that are unusual. Tendencies to cry easily, anyway it usually takes eight weeks to get a period back but a little longer is normal also.

I don't get a period the whole time I'm breastfeeding--enjoy it!!!  Just keep in mind that you never know when it's coming and you'll ovulate without knowing it so be careful!!  My mom got pregnant while breastfeeding and had my brothers 16mos apart (way too close, imo.)
