BTW.... Preston has 2 teeth now. They both came in at the same time. It is sooo cute! I can't believe that my sweet baby boy has 2 teeth and is crawling. : )
My son had tubes put in at 13 months....the rule of thumb is that any child can have them if they have had 4 infections in a year or 3 in 6 months. So your son would definatly be a candidate for tubes. My son's surgery went SO fast...it is amazing how fast they can put tubes in. The doc was in and out in 5 minutes. Ashtyn was awake when they took him back to the OR and he was awake when he came back to Recovery, so they are only out a max of 10 minutes. It really has helped him in the month that he has had them....at least he is not digging his ears all the time anymore. I really think that tubes a re a good thing because chronic ear infection can cause hearing loss, so I would do the tubes:)
Good Luck, and don't worry, it is common to not want to see your little man go through something like this!
Thank you sooo much! I just hate the ideal of seeing my little man in pain. But i know it is better to get it taken care of now. One day of pain verses weeks and months of pain. I have just never heard of babies this little having tubes and it kinda worries me.
i know exactly how you feel. my son is 7 1/2 months and has had 9 ear infectons .. they never went away. medicine after medicine. then his dr was not happy with the fact that they just wouldnt clear up. he would have single ones and doubles ones.. it was like living in heLL at times..lol.. but when he was almost 5 1/2 months he had tubes put in . and i couldnt of gotten a better gift, he has had NO ear infections since the surgery,. it has worked a miracle for him . and the surgery went great with no complications at all.. and the ENT was a lil worrried about doing surgery on him cause they like to wait until at least 6 months of age but he didnt want him to have any more infections ccause he ears was bad off.. so he did it and everything went well.. he now checks him every 6 months until the tubes fall off... i wish you all the luck dont be scared. it can be what is best for him ... Good Luck
also, they give you antibiotic ear drops to put in their ears for 1 week. Ashtyn was a little cranky when they first woke him up after surgery, but he was back to normal in less than an hour. It really did go smoothly!
