8 week old overtired HELP!

8 week old overtired HELP!

my 8 week old is overtired. i dont know what to do to keep her asleep. shemostly only sleeps when im holding her and cries when i put her down or try to get herto fall asleep in her bassinet. she tries to fall asleep while nursing but gets upset that milk comes out. she finally just started taking a pacifier which helps sometimes. she gets so overstimulated she always looks wide awake but continuously cries. she sleeps much better at night because i lve let her co-slep with me since shes been acting this way. she will usually sleep from 9-pm11am (it changes often) and wakes up 2-3 times to eat. (exclusivly breastfeeding) during the day she only gets maybe 3-4 30min naps and usually wakes up screaming becuase ive either set her down somewhere or shes just so tired she cant fall backasleep by herself. i usually have to rock her really hard so she cant focus on her surroundings and dozes off, or hold her to my chest like shes breast feeding so she cant see anything around us. any advice on fixing this other then trying and trying to get her to sleep over and over again? her doctor didnt really help when we went in to see her today. (she has been a little congested, but it has not bothered her enough to wake her)

she has been waking up exactly 30min after going to sleep and looks almost wide awake but still yawning. shes in her vibrating/bouncey chair so i started to bounce her (thats how she fell asleep) when she started stirring but she woke up anyways. :(

So she's sleeping 14 hours at night and then 2 hours in the day?  Isn't that about right for an infant?

I thought the same thing- sleeping 9 pm till 11 am the next day & only waking 2 or 3 times plus getting in those 30 min naps?  If I read that right as well, sounds like she is getting lots of sleep.  The bigger they get the less they sleep.  Even as newborns mine didn't snooze that long, they were starving every 2 hours & just plain cried all night.  If you are worried that something is up, maybe check with her ped.  Don't listen to the gals that have perfect babies that slepp from 8 pm till 8 am & take morning & afternoon naps of at least 1 plus hours.  I think those babies are either rare or a myth.....at least I have never seen one, would have liked to though.  Take care, it gets better.

I held my babies while they slept, spoiled them rotten, but it was the only way we ever got any sleep, pick your battles with the little ones, they seem to win more often than not.
