8 weeks no hb

8 weeks no hb

Hi everyone I was looking for advice and came across this forum. I went for my first u/s yesturday and i am 8 weeks pregnant. the sonographer said the baby measured 8 weeks but could not see a heart beat. i am not sure of my last period so i am not sure about the dates and i have told them this. my doctor then said I had to get a D&C because it's a bad pregnancy and scheduled me three days later. she said my cervix is closed and i will not miscarry naturally.  I have no blood loss or cramping or signs of misscarriage. I was reading posts on here....and shouldn't the doctor check my blood levels first to make sure they are going down?? shouldn't they do one more u/s to make sure they didn't miss something. my baby is normal size it did not stop growing as of yet i guess i just feel like the doctor is giving up to soon. i don't know what to do. i have been crying and upset for two days i am devasted this is my first pregnancy. can someone please give me advice??

I would get a second opinion. Yes, they probably should have seen a heartbeat at 8 weeks. However, I would never get a d&c until you are positive in your mind that there is no hope. Otherwise you will always wonder.

I just got done having a d&c but I waited for 3 weeks after finding there was no heartbeat to go through with it.

I am sorry for what you are going through.

I'm sorry you're going through this.  I've had 4 miscarriages and am having a d&c done tomorrow.   I should be 8 weeks but the fetus is only measuring 6wks6days and there is no heartbeat although there was one last week.  It is really devastating but know that miscarriages are a lot more common than we know and there was nothing that you did to cause it.  With my first miscarriage and with this one, I also didn't bleed or have any cramping.  I agree with the above poster though that you should be 100% positive before having a d&c done.  From the research that I've done, you should see a heartbeat by 6weeks6days the latest.  Again, I'm sorry you're going through this.

thanks for the responses i am sorry for what you both are going through too. i have made an appointment with another doctor. we are in the same boat only my baby is measuring the correct size of 8 weeks so i feel as though i need a second opinion before getting the d&c. i will do another vaginal ultrasound today and check for a heart beat and ask this doctor if i should get the d&c tomorrow. i am praying that my baby will live somehow but trying to be realistic as it doesnt look good. will keep you updated

i think you should get a second opinion, i wouldn't do a D&C so soon, i would wait another 2 weeks and then do another U/S and go from there.

well just came back from my appointment and bad news again...no heart beat or cardio activity detected. i scheduled the d&c for saturday in their office because i felt more comfortable there...my reg. ob keeps you awake during the d&c which i wasn't happy about. last hope is saturday when they do the ultrasound right before the procedure but i am not expecting much. i will try to conceive again as soon as possible. my heart goes out to everyone that is going through this you are not alone

I'm sorry yilissa.  There are a bunch of women on here who go on to have a positive pregnancy after a miscarriage.  I really wish you the best of luck.

How are you? I read that you are going for DNC tomorrow. I hope it goes smoothly.
I am going to have one last U/S tomorrow, just to confirm that the sac is not growing. Since ive had DNC I dont want to have another one, which means more waiting game. Did your doctor say anything about scar tissue because of DNCs? My doc wants to check my uterine lining to make sure everything is ok.
Just wanted to see how you are doing.
