8 weeks prego and nothing seen yet

8 weeks prego and nothing seen yet

Hi everyone my name is Jammie and I am in need of some help. I found out on the 25th of April 2009 that i was prego with an HCG level of 5(blood test). Since then weird things have been happening. My Hcg levels have not doubled like the dr. thinks they should be. On the 5 they were 90 on the 8 they were 140 and then the 240 yesterday. Last night I was told again at the hosptial that my hcgs are still very low now at 240 what should they be. I have had three u/s and last nights was the only one that has shown anything. It showed a 2mm sac. I am not sure if its just a pusedo sac that can show up with an etopic or if I should wait and see if r  lil one develops. I have an appointment on Tuesday to rerun my hcg and do anyother ultrasound. I do not know what to do or what to think. I have had a previous preg. and all was fine.  whats the difference between a psuedo sac and a sac that will eventualy have a baby in it.

I did a lot of research about pseudosacs when my Dr. was concerned about an ectopic pregnancy with my last m/c.  Generally it is blood in the uterus that can appear like a sac, but an experienced radiologist can tell it apart from a true sac in the u/s because a true sac has a double ring feature.  At this point you don't have to make any decisions, your Dr. will monitor your hcg and probably do another scan when your levels are higher, to look for more development.  If he feels you are in danger of an ectopic or there is no further development of the sac then the Dr. will discuss your options.  Hcg is expected to rise a minimum of 66% in 48 hours to be considered a viable pregnancy.  Mine ended up being a true sac that never developed past 5 weeks.  I hope you have better luck than I did!

Hi thank you for all the information. The sac i saw was very little it was only 2mm thats all but i guess i will find out on tuesday what is going on. Im hoping  I was really really wrong on my dates and that I ovulated late. Since u had done some research on the subject do you know if 2mm is enough to say its etopic blood n the uterus.  I wish I had a better understanding of what i was looking at and if there was a double ring or not it was just so little and I was happy there was something there this time.

thank again

I'm sorry I can't tell you more.  I would assume if it was blood it could be all different sizes depending on how much blood there is.  The u/s tech should have taken good pictures and your Dr should have reviewed them and should be able to tell what it is.  If the Dr. says it's a sac it's most likely a sac, and really all you can do at this point is wait out the bloodwork and another u/s.  I hope you get some good news.

I hope everything goes well!  I too am in the same boat!  I am about 7wks pregnant and my HCG levels have also been low, I went for an ultrasound last week (I would've been about 6wks 3 days) and they saw nothing at all!  I have to repeat an HCG test this week and I'm on pins & needles wondering how high they are now.  I've already had a miscarriage 5 months ago and really want this baby!!

Keep us posted on your story!

Hi I understand what you are going through. I went to the doctors today and even though the gest. sac which was only 2mm on the 15th has grown(its about the size of a quarter now) they are still pushing the abortion shot. Maybe u ovulated late and thats y they have not seen anything as long as you feel fine and are in no pain try not to be so worried. I know that it is hard at best to wait and "not worry" but focusing on the many horrible things  that can go wrong will drive us nuts and God knows we do no need to be stressing more than what we already are at this point. What have your hcgs been doing? I had mine redone today. I have been back to the doctors so much during these last few weeks I  should have my own parking space by now. It is crazy but I think that until our bodies have made a decsion we should be what we are mommys in waiting.

I'm really trying to stay positive but I can't help the feeling that this pregnancy will end up in a miscarriage:(  I have started having some cramping and light spotting (only when I wipe...sorry TMI)  Nothing compared to when I miscarried before.  Unfortunately I know when I ovulated, I was on Clomid last month and was tracking my ovulation with an OPK.
Here are my HCG levels from the beginning of the month:
May 5th - 25 (4 weeks preggo)
May 7th - 36 (didn't double)
May 14 - 129 (very low for just over 5 weeks), Dr. ordered Ultrasound
May 21 - Nothing seen on ultrasound.  No cramping, spotting or bleeding.  Still tired a little nauseated and tender breasts.
May 28 - Did HCG today to see what my levels are, started cramping this week with very light spotting when going to bathroom.

I should get the results tomorrow and we'll go from there.
Have you heard of the website "misdiagnosed miscarriage"  I've read quite a few stories like mine and others who have been told they need to terminate the pregnancy b/c the baby isn't seen etc. and then the next week there it was was a healthy heartbeat and all!

Either way it's out of our hands at this point...the waiting certainly *****!

Sending Baby Dust your way!
