8 yr old facial spots?

My middle child (8 yrs old) is my smallest.Meaning she is in the 3rd grade wears a size 6 & weighs 45 pounds.She's very smart & her dr does not seem concerned,she says she's petite.Well she is a tan color.Like her daddy & I've noticed she's been getting white spots on her face.Almost like a discoloration.mostly on her cheeks.Her dr is on Vacation & cant see her for 2 wks.My friend says it malnutrition?She eats fine but in small amounts & I also give her vitamins.Does anyone know what it could be?She's not sick & It bothers me more than he.... just worried a bit.Thanks Adriana:)

Sounds like it might be Pityriasis alba. It is similar to a mild form of eczema, and it causes a mild loss of pigmentation. It's a temporary condition. I suggest you take her to a dermatologist for a diagnosis.
