ABNORMAL HCG LEVELS- HELP!

by mrsstorm, Apr 15, 2004 12:00AM
I was told on 3/30/04 that I was having a miscarriage based on a pelvic exam that found a small uterus and beta hcg level of 19 (at approx. 6 weeks). I had followup blood work on 4/8 and was told that my hcg was 35. I took 3 HPTs that day (different brands) and all 3 that I took came back positive.
Well, because my hcg was going up instead of down, I was sent for MORE bloodwork and a urine test at the hospital. That was 4/14/04. When I took the urine test at the hospital, I also collect some of the SAME urine for myself and went home to test that urine with a HPT- that came back positive.
BUT, my doctor called me this morning and told me that my hcg on the 14th was 27 but the urine test was negative (although he said it should have picked up 20 and above).
I'm really confused because my hpt with the same urine was positive AND a hpt today (4/15/04) is also positive and I've been experiencing VERY tender breasts as I did BEFORE the miscarriage on 3/30.
Can you please explain what is/may be happening?  I would be GREATLY APPRECIATIVE, I'm worried sick and confused!

i know there is a web site that shows the "normal" range of hcg levels.  the ranges are huge but not that huge.  unfortunatly at 6 weeks i would say you are way out of normal 27 is only about 21 points from showing negative even with blood.  I'm very sorry that you are having to go threw this.
I will keep you in my prayers
