AF or Not AF after MC -- with HCG still in system

by wonderme, Dec 04, 2006 12:00AM
Good morning all.

I am curious to everyone's thoughts on this.  I had a medical m/c at the end of October (my HCG was ~3700 and I was about 8 weeks, fetus ~7 weeks).  I bled for about 2 weeks of varying amounts and then it stopped.

I had 2 weeks of no bleeding while my HCG dropped to ~100.  And then 4 weeks to the day I had a 5-day period.  Started with 2 days of light brown, pink spotting and then turned bright red for 5 days.

That was 1 1/2 weeks ago and as of last week my HCG was around 30.

I expect by next week that my HCG should be at or under 5 (negative) and by then I should be due for my next AF.

My questions are:  1.  When do you think I will ovulate?  (BTW I'm saying these are AF even though I couldn't have ovulated b/c you can have monthly cycles w/o ovulating anyway, right?)

2.  Does the increased fertility everyone talks about after m/c occur if it takes your hormones 2 months to drop and thereby 2 months to ovulate?  Or is it only if you ovulate immediately?

My doctor seems to give me conflicting info -- conflicting from what my body is actually doing, so I'm looking for REAL experiences from REAL women.

I also just want to say how thankful I am to have all the support of everyone on this site.  It is truly a blessing to have so much help, hope and inspiration.  I have been brought to tears more times than I can count -- and not from my own, but from reading everyone else's posts.

Bless you all -- and sticky baby dust to all.

The increased fertility must occur even if it takes 2 months to ovulate.  I MC and had a D&C in Sept. and am now pregnant again with no AF in between.  We weren't trying  to get pregnant again so I am now a big believer when they say you are very fertile after MC.
