AFTER MISCARRIAGE

by KAV, Dec 10, 2004 12:00AM
I MISCARRIED 1 1/2 MO. AGO AT 13 1/2 WEEKS. NO PRIOR SYMPTOMS OTHER THAN LIGHT SPOTTING FOR 1 DAY 1 MO. PRIOR.  HEARD HEARTBEAT AFTER THIS, SO I THOUGHT EVERYTHING WAS FINE.  WENT TO ER ON A SAT. EVENING, EVERYTHING HAD PASSED BY EARLY SUN. MORNING.  I DID NOT HAVE A D&C.  MY DOCTOR DID NO EXAM OR BLOOD TESTING.  I BLED FOR APPROX. 1 1/2 WKS AFTER.  APPROX. 4WKS LATER I HAD SOME LIGHT SPOTTING (BARELY THERE AND LIGHT BROWN).  I THOUGHT THIS MAY HAVE BEEN MY FIRST "PERIOD".  NOW, ALMOST 2WKS LATER I'M HAVING THE SAME SPOTTING.  IS THIS NORMAL?  SHOULD I HAVE HAD A PERIOD BY NOW?  WHEN CAN I TRY TO CONCEIVE AGAIN WITHOUT INCREASING MY RISK OF ANOTHER MISCARRIAGE?  IF I'M SUPPOSED TO WAIT 3 MOS, DOES THIS MEAN 3 NORMAL PERIODS, OR JUST MONTHS?

hey i dont know if this will help in some sort but i too had a m/c but i did have to get a d&c done on 11-15-04 i was about 11 1/2 wks. i started spotting for about a wk or so but my body wouldnt expell the sac thats why i had to get the procedure done.  but i've been reading a lot of different boards and you have to realize that your body works differently. i have yet to get my period again. some women get it w/in 4 weeks other not until 6 wks.  if you feel shaky that something may be wrong call your ob/gyn and see if those few days of spotting could count as your period. and about wondering if you should wait a a month or 3 to try again it all depends until you're ready i think. i know of ppl who tried after the 2 wks others who got preg after their first per. it just all depends on how you feel.

I also had a m/c at around 15 wks. w/out any symptoms but spotting.  We had heard  a h/b several times.  I did have a lot of blood work done and it seemed nothing was wrong, just bad luck.  Anyway, I bleed of and on for almost 6 wks. I would go 5 days w/ out any bleeding , then it showed up again.  Your body is healing.  But if you are worried take a pg. test or call the DR.  I am now pg. again (10 wks.) and really nervous.
Good luck and sorry about your loss.

I am so sorry to hear about your loss.  I am almost 13 1/2 weeks pregnant, and am terrified that I am having (or will have, or already have had) a miscarriage.  I started light spotting/ bleeding a little over 2 weeks ago, had bloodwork and an ultrasound done that showed everything to be normal and fine.  A week after that, I heard the heart beat with the doctor's Doppler device, and he told me to just hang in there and try not to worry.  That was a week ago, and I am worried!  I see the doctor again on Monday, 3 days from now, and I am so scared.  The bleeding has continued all of this time, never really heavy, sometimes barely nothing at all, sometimes a few little "pieces" mixed in when I pee.  Would I know if I miscarried?  Would it be obvious?  How did you know?  I know it must be painful for you, but any advice you could give me would really help!  Thank you!

you shouldnt stress too much just relax and wait until your next appt. at least you can relax knowing that you hear the babys heart and see the sonagram. When i realized that i was m/c i didnt get to hear or see that and i was 11 1/2 wks so just calm down dont work yourself up good luck

my doctor told me that spotting was normal.  you can even bleed heavily like a period and that doesn't mean that you'll have a miscarriage.  Hang in there.  i know it's hard not to worry and to stay calm, but it's the best thing.  if it's meant to be, everything will be fine.  i know how annoying it is to hear that, but it's true.  i'll be thinking of you!

Congratulations! &best wishes.  Can I ask how long ago you miscarried & how long it took you to get pg.  We are really anxious to start trying again, but really nervous too.  Any advice?

I'm so sorry for your loss. That's really a tough time to lose a little one. You're just getting used to the idea of being pregnant and getting excited and then heartbreak. I've been there more than once, so my heart hurts for you. My OB/GYN told me to wait 3 normal cycles. My last miscarriage was on July 20. We just started trying to conceive again in mid-November since it took that long to have 3 periods. Have you had another ultrasound to make sure your uterus is completely "cleaned" out? I usually bleed for about 2 weeks after D&C's (which I refuse to have again, unless it's life or death), then nothing for about 4 weeks, then a normal period, but every woman's body is different.
