Abnormal Gestational Sac

by MiracleMom, Oct 27, 2004 12:00AM
I went for an ultrasound a week ago and we saw a little baby and a heartbeat but my gestational sac was flat and shaped really odd.  The measurements came back as the gestational sac measuring 9wks and the baby measuring 7w6d.  We are scheduled to go for another ultrasound in 2w but I am so stressed and worried.  We haven't got any answers from our doctors except for this is a mystery so does anyone have any answers?

Thanks!!

I wish I knew.  I think you will have to ride this out until the next ultrasound.  Is your doctor doing any HCG levels?  (Sorry if you said that before, I can't remember!)

I had 3 HCG tests done back in september and they went up really good.  Hopefully all will be fine it was at least reassuring to see the baby and that the baby had a heartbeat.

I would be having them check your hcg levels!  That's the only way to see if the baby is growing at a strong rate?  Sometimes it takes longer for your sac to "blow" up so that's not so much a concern as the difference in the ages?  Of course that could be jsut the way they are measuring too.  I hate early ultrasounds, i swear.  2 weeks is a long time to wait though, good grief!!  why not next week?

Are you still having symptoms of pg?  I would say trust your body.  THat's what I'm doing.  I've been sicker than a dog for 2 weeks now and it's just getting worse.  That tells me my little peanut is doing ok.  If you never had many symptoms, as i didn't with my son, it's harder to tell what's going on.  That's where I would draw blood :)

I hope this helps.  Have faith and a little patience.  :)  momttc

Thanks!!  I definitely feel pregnant.  Nausea, tiredness and my breasts hurt like crazy.  I think I need to trust a little more in the Lord and stop all this worrying but it is still hard.  But thanks for the response.

Gestational sacs come in various shapes.  Go to this sight.  You can view u/s at various weeks.  They are different shaped and different clarity due to the type of u/s machine used.  Try to drink lots and lots of water.  That will help the sac as well in keeping it healthy.  Keep us posted how things go.

I think you posted down below by the Cleveland Mom and Claire posting?  I put a big long e-mail down there for you.  You might want to read it.

Here is my post from below just incase it gets erased.  Sometimes that happens as new posts come in.

Hi There,

For some reason I just found this post today. I hope that you get it. Oh yes! A tilted uterus definetely has something to do with getting unusual u/s readings. Have you gone to the

http://home.earthlink.net/~misdiagnosed/

and read some of the stories? You may find them very encouraging. There is some really good resources also in the "Research" section and info about tilted uterus. You can even post or e-mail bonzobean mom who has a tilted uterus and is pretty familiar with it. Also, go to this web site. Look at the various u/s pictures. You will see that no two u/s pictures are the same. Also, the mhz of the machine can affect the clarity.

I hope that this pregnancy goes well. I know how worrisome it can be. I guess just preparation for parenthood (-: Keep us posted here or on the misdiagnosed web-site. If you could post your story there after you see how things go, that would be great. Success stories encourage women who are going through a diagnosis. That is the purpose of the sight. To have stories in one central location where women can go to them to get encouragement.. Take care!

P.S.  I usually get a pain on my right or left side from progesterone being released to sustain my pregnancies.  That is what my midwife told me it was.  Also, I have a friend who had brown bleeding early in her pregnancy at 7 weeks with clots.  She ended up being okay and has her little 1 yr. old now.  Also, I was reading on one of these posts that sometimes it can be old blood from the previous pregnancy?  Also, sometimes early in the first trimester women get implantation bleeding from the placenta attaching to the uterine wall.  It is normal and very common.

P.S.S.  There is nothing to worry with having a tilted uterus.  It just can throw off ultrasound readings and make things appear differently than they are.  Your baby sounds fine to me.  I would copy and paste your other post and put it at the misdiagnosed sight.  See what bonzobean mom says.  I'm sure that she will say the same thing.  Looking over your story again you surely are a Miracle Mom!  Wow!  That little baby of yours sure is a blessing!
