Abnormal HCG / Heartbeat

by karenminn, Feb 28, 2003 12:00AM
My HCG has risen very slowly. Starting at about 4 1/2 weeks it was 433/633/974/1100 (the last two three days apart) then a week and a half later it's 7000.

I'm now 7 weeks and had an ultrasound today. I was without hope and expecting to confirm a miscarriage. I was stunned to see a heartbeat (133bpm) and everything is at the perfect size.

They mentioned a possiblity that I could have miscarried a twin. Would that affect HCG this long?

What scares me the most is that the HCG indicates some sort of birth defect or leaves me at a higher risk of other problems later on. Does the HCG matter now that I've seen the hearbeat or is this pregnancy or the baby still at a higher risk?

Thank you.
