Abnormal Uterus

by taratara, Jul 04, 2003 12:00AM
I recently thought I was pregnant, and had a nurse give me an ultrasound.  When she looked at the screen, she made a weird face, and asked me if anyone ever told me my uterus tilts to the left.  At the time I didn't think anything of it, but I am wondering if this would cause me to have difficulties in becoming pregnant.  I have been married for four years, and although we have not aggresively tried to conceive, we have not used birth control.
If someone has any information on this, I would greatly appreciate it!

My sister has a tilted uterus and 3 children. Hope this is encouraging.

Hi, Well I have heard thata tilted uterus has no effect on getting pregnant or any bad effects on a pregnancy. As the pregnancy advances the tilt fixes itself (in pregnancy). After of course it would go back the way it was.

Hi there,
I have a tilted uterus and am 8 weeks pregnant. I have been told that it can cause difficulties in conceiving but depends on the person.
Good luck!

I have an abnormal uterus too (bicornuate) and am currently 19 weeks pregnany. The baby is in the right horn and is growing as expected (although some other unrelated complications). I wish you the best of luck if getting pregnant is your goal! My uterine abnormality also wasn't found until  I was pregnant...

My uterus is tilted back and I had no problem getting pregnant.  However, I do have a friend that has a tilted uterus and she is unable to have children naturally.  She is in the process of trying to get pregnant via Invetro Fertilization (however you spell that) and the first attempt was unsucessfull.  Doctors don't think that her tilted uterus had anything to do with the unsuccess of the first try and are trying again.  I guess it does depend on the person.  I wish you all of the luck in the world.  I know I went both ways with this post, but I hope some of the info. gave you hope.  BEst of luck!!!!!!!!

Just wondering, I have a tilted uterus and my u/s is showing a gestational sac at about five weeks and a yolk sac at about seven weeks and no fetus has anyone experienced anything similar? What should I expect-I have another u/s in two weeks and the doctor seems to feel like this is probably not a viable pregnancy. Would a tiltled uterus interfere that severely w/ gestational dating and seeing the fetus?
